That's the way is is supposed to be. Stout was first brewed as a beverage to "fill up" and give energy to dock workers in order to keep them going while unloading ships. Their contracts at the time included beer/ale as part of their payment but of course drinking makes people tired... Stout was brewed so that the payment of beer could be made but the workers would not get drowsy.

Mmmmmmmmm. This beer I'm enjoying is fantastic. So that leads me to open a more-than-likely-thoroughly-over-done thread asking this question:
What's your favorite beer(s)?!!!11!
I feel lucky to live in Louisiana and know the joys of the Abita Brewing Company's products. They make the most tasty beers I've ever tasted.
My two favorites are:
Purple Haze: It has a slight hint of raspberry flavor... really refreshing
Amber: The one I'm enjoying at the moment. Mmmm.
So feel free to chime in in a more or less elaborate way than I did. I'll just continue to enjoy this tasty beverage.
I've had both beers and I was really not impressed but that's just me.
Purple haze was also factoring big time on the whole organic growing part of it and imo most beers that call themselves organic tend to be crap cause they don't exactly focus on what's most important the beer making.
But I did have a great organic ale once: St Peters . SOOO goood
Otherwise speaking of favorite beers:
La Fin Du Monde ( Unibroue Quebec )
Mort Subite Framboise
Hoegaarden
Otherwise I was having this for 6 months when it came out:
This was also very good
Problem is those two last beers were seasonals ..

This is why I enjoy guinness. Most beers, make you sleepy, after afew, and the drunk is more stumbling, slurring... Guinness (IMO) is a party drink...I can drink 8-10 pints and still be on my feet...after 12 it gets tough though...and past 15 is blackout time
Combine to that the fact that it is THE smoothest beer on earth, and its a match made in heaven.
