if you look at the season so far, the most dominating team is the lakers, it is no surprise to anyone, based on there performance in the nba playoffs last year, it seemed like they were cruising, they onyl had one loss, and this year, ,they have a really good record, if things keep going the way they are, with shaq back in a few games and no serious injuries, we could be lookat a 3peat. i wouldnt mind them winnign again, since i live in la =)

lakers sux___end of conversation, they bore me to hell..
Miami: Are they the next San antonio Spurs? Remember a thought-to-be-good Spurs team lost David Robinson almost an entire saison and they couldnt catch the playoffs, but instead landed No1 Pick Tim Duncan, with whom they won a championship in his second year. No way the Heat are going to be the worst (remember the Bulls play in this league as well ) but the last years the team with the worst record not had the first pick. If they someone manage to have the first or the second pick behind a team without a need for a PG and they could fetch Jason Williams, what a team that will be. I mean the biggest problem is that they have a CBA PG starting. Williams will be ready the first time he steps on court and could lead them to the Finals. On the other hand: if the Heat get Williams, Bulls GM Jerry Krause will hang himself in the woods
back to the Lakers: They play at least the next two games without Shaq, and realise it without him they are mediocre, they have by far the worst frontcourt of the NBA, and they could very well lose to the Rockets (with Francis and on a run to catch the playoffs somehow) and Denver (the game is @Denver where the nugs habve been strong). Man I cant still believe the Sixers lost, they are in a full mess and need to get their act together, else the playoffs are gone.

Respect to MJs 51 yesterday, I would not be happy as a team Coach when I face the Wizards in the first round...

to the Lakers 3-peating:
The Spurs and the Kings have a very good chance to knock.out the Lakers IMO. Tim Dunan is in form of his live, they have a kobe-stopper in bowen and gained leadership in smith (remember anderson was not there against the lakers last playoffs). The Kings are an unbelievable good team on the paper but they need Chris Webber act like a MVP and not like a rook in the playoffs. And somehow I still believe in the Blazers, if they somehow manage to get their thing together, which is not probable at all, they could make some problems in the post-season (if they are in the playoffs...)
I think that a eastern team has a chance against a western one. aa matchup betwenn the bucks and the spurs could very well end sucessfully for the Bucks...

Lakers are GONE...

cweb, you cant just say the lakers suck(just because they bore you), they have the best record in the nba right now, i am not saying they are going to three peat, but they have a good chance at it, although it would be cool if someone knocked them off

Lakers arent doing so bad without Shaq but in a duration of an 82 game season without O'Neal, the Lakers would be battling for the 6,7 and 8 spots for the playoffs.
Michael Jordan's next game is against the Bulls. Its gonna be very interesting because the Bulls have won 2 in a row under new coach Cartwright and MJ only needs 15 points to reach the magical 30,000 point milestone.

i agree with that. any team with some big fat-a$$ by the name of shaq would make the playoffs for sure! that PLUS kobe. wow. but the lakers have no depth.

Lakers will not make the playoffs without Shaq, thats for sure. They have a superstar but the rest, especially on thge 4 and 5 are just backups, nothing more...

Portland is going way down...how long will cheeks be the coach? Sixrs as well need a win tonight @Phoenix to start the new year with a push.

i actually get a little sad when i see the blazers play.. this team defines tragedy and is heading straight towards a major deficit in terms of money.. cheeks' days are numbered

just a result from the fact that the majority of NBA teams are based solely on superstars, i.e. one or two players determine the future of a franchise.. i expect the lakers and kings to switch positions in the standings when the weekend is over (even with the return of shaq)

M. Jordan's wife files for divorce.

Why would she want a divorce? Well i got this info from espn.com and heres what they wrote about it..

Monday, January 7

Differences caused 'the irretrievable breakdown'

Associated Press

CHICAGO -- Michael Jordan's wife has filed for divorce, seeking to dissolve her 12-year marriage to the world's most famous basketball player, the Chicago Tribune reported on its Web site Monday night.

Juanita Jordan was at her husband's side in January 1999 when he announced his now short-lived retirement from the NBA.

In a petition filed Friday in circuit court in Waukegan, Ill., Juanita Jordan cited "irreconcilable differences" in seeking a dissolution of her marriage to Jordan.

She seeks permanent custody of the couple's three children, the 25,000-square-foot "marital residence" in Highland Park and half the couple's property.

The petition listed the couple as J. Vanoy Jordan and M. Jeff Jordan.

"It is the parties' hope that the media respect the family's need and desire for privacy in this painful matter," Juanita Jordan's lawyer, Don Schiller, told the Tribune.

The six-page petition says irreconcilable differences have caused "the irretrievable breakdown" of Mrs. Jordan's marriage to the basketball superstar and that future attempts at reconciliation "would be impractical and not in the best interests of the family."

The couple was married Sept. 2, 1989, in Las Vegas. Their children are Jeffrey, 13, Marques, 11, and Jasmine, 9.

Jordan cited a desire to spend more time with his family when he retired from the Bulls the first time in October 1994 and again in January 1999.

He maintained his Chicago-area residence when he returned to basketball as a front-office executive with the Washington Wizards last season, but his decision to resume his playing career has kept him in Washington full-time.

The petition describes Jordan as "a well and able-bodied man who is capable of making suitable provisions for the support and maintenance of the Petitioner and for the support and education of the parties' children in a style commensurate with that enjoyed by the parties during marriage."

Jordan, who was paid more than $30 million in his final season with the Bulls, is one of the world's richest athletes.
