My fav DJ's (by far) were Mauro Picotto and PVD! Got there in the middle of Dave Armstrong's set, was o.k. Steve Angelo played some good tracks, but went into Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" mode twice during the night (the max set time was 90 minutes, is it really necessary to play the same song twice????)

Morillo's really not my style, but gave me a break to get some drinks and wait 20 minutes for the bathroom. I went there for that GERMAN TRANCE SOUND, after all!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mauro was off the hook...was so funny how he made those weird faces with his arms up in the air, like "wtf, why are you all looking at me for, I'm just the DJ but I'll go along with it all and pretend like I"m somebody important!"

PVD really shook the house (hmmm...no ceiling, o.k. he shook the floor)! The crowd was so into him, very difficult to get up to the front though I did, just takes patience. I could see that he really loved this night, and when the crowd shouted "Paul van Dyk" over and over two different times before his set ended, I saw him smile appreciatively.

imo, the headlining DJ should have been given a 3 hour set though. Drop some of the others, whatever it takes, but this world famous top 5 DJ flew in from Germany and deserved a 3 hour set!

Most annoying thing was the cam rule. "No digital cameras allowed" per the website, but when I got there I saw at least 50 of them!!! Anyone posted pics yet?

Best part was the people. A little too close for my comfort at the front, but a polite group imo and paid proper respect to the DJ's like they deserved! I'm sure that every one of those DJ's will want to come back to LA soon after an event good as Independance!

Location: Trance sucks in LA

It was the best event for me this year so far.

The best set was between 8:30-9:00PM. Based on the schedule, it is supposed to be Steve Angello. But, I thought they changed the DJ around 9:10PM, and that guy was horrible. Maybe DJ switched the set.

I could say Edgar, Morillo and Picotto all sucked, but I also think Sasha sucks and people like him. I would not be surprised some enjoyed these.
Crowd seemed to be in the same mood throughout the night, more into PVD.

PVD was so so, not bad not outstanding. He started well, but felt like candygirl that he deeped after a while. He was good at the end too. I wished he did not stop 3AM sharp, played a few more tracks.

I enjoyed the fireworks. It would be awesome if they had fireworks for all the DJs, but that would be too much to ask.

Crowd size was reasonable. VIP area seemed to be full although I was not there. Field was half way full, more or less. Crowd was scattered, there were people dancing on the opposite side of the field, which made me believe that people were enjoying. If the crowd was any bigger, restroom lines would be too long.

Sound was reasonable for the outdoor event. It could be slightly cleaner, but for $35 event it would be too much to ask. They would need to put additinal speakers on the sides and back. Stadium is too big. Even Mayan does not have a better sound than this. I am surprised that they covered all the field.

It could be nice to overlook from stairs. But, probably, they closed the stairs for security reasons which I would understand.

Gogo dancer with a hat had an awesome rack. Asian dancer with blue bikini had good moves too. They should use these type of dancers for clubs, but guys would be all over them. I guess that's why they use ugly dancers at the clubs.

Basically, for $35, this is as good as it gets. Actually, it should have been pricier compared to other crappy shows, like Sasha and Tiesto.

Wow!!!! What an awesome set... Like Julia said before, it wasn't his best, but it was really good. His first half was Picotto's old style. Those that didn't see him last night, you guys missed out since he don't play like that anymore. Many classic Picotto tracks. Then, he kicked it up a notch when he dropped New Time New Place, and went on to bang all the new hard techno. WOOHOO... What a perfect transition, the song makes perfect sence because he went from old, to NEW... just like the song says... And OMFG!!!! The crowd went nuts with his hard banging techno. And, LA experienced something that he rarely does... he played his own UNRELEASED track DARK ROOM... That track has never been released, and when Chris from Belfast, Julia, and I heard it... OMFG, we went nuts. That's our song, Mauro played it for us last time at Avalon, and again in Miami!!!! The crowd was going off to it too. I think that was the song that got the biggest reaction from the crowd. I was dancing non stop. I even saw Mauro dance on stage while DJing to this song. He was jumping up and down with a big smile on his face. That's something I have never seen him do. It looked like he was really enjoying his set. And off course, he did his trademark weird faces and hand moves. And did he get new headphones? It looked like he had new white Meganite headphones! Awesome!!!!

The German Trance sound!!! This was one of PVD's best set in the US by far.. dont know if itll ever be topped out. The encore was orgasmic!! This was the PVD ive been waiting for since the beginning of his US tour.

Any hoot, I hadnt been to a party since like judge jules @1015, and let me tell you. I was dancing my ass off since Steve Angello started his set. Guy had me moving, and im a pretty big guy too .

Anyways, I took my digital rebel and they wouldnt let me in!! I hate that shit., they said it was too big of a camera! WTF is that.
Anyways I was able to bring in my h320 mp3 player and record the sets, except for PVD, which the battery had died at about the second song!. If anyone wants it, let me know I can send it out.
