That pretty much sums up what I would tip.

I do disagree with the comment mentioned earlier...tip better if you want better service next time, my take on that is....I am the customer and YOU and doing your job, if you do it well and prove you do your job well i will give you what you deserve, but I aint tipping anyone that is doing a half assed job just so they try harder next time. The server should take the initiative to provide better service first, not see what kind of money I am offering and then decide if they want to kiss my ass.

How much to tip is something all us foreigners want to know, but are too afraid to ask (and for a good reason it seems)
So thanks Søren for asking and (almost) everyone for the replies, I found this thread most useful

One for all and all for one.

$1 per drink. And closer to the middle to end of the night I will finally throw like $5 to $10 in the bathroom guys basket. I take about 40 trips throughout the night so really cant afford $1 every time I go in there.

When I went to Spirit to see Alien Project I got into an argument with the bathroom guy. I went to fill my water bottle and he said I couldnt do it. So I argued with him on how water is essential for life and he was crazy if he thought he was gonna make me pay $5 every time I needed a refill. He threatened security and I left. Came back later and apologized for being rude to him and he said no big deal, and let me refill all night.

The bartender gets more money the more complicated the drinks and the friendly/efficeint they are. I pay better everytime they do this. And never more than a dollar for water/beer.

But I am a waitress and I understand tips....I get paid $3 an hour...but my tips make me come out to about $20-50 an hour depending on my service so I work my ass off for those tips, and so should the bartenders!!!

Usually tip 1-2$ for beer depending on price of beer. and 2-3$ for making me drink. Bathroom guy i usually give a 5 in the beginning if im gonna be filling up my water bottle all night haha. Always tip 20% or more at restuarants unless the service is totally horrible, and same goes with cabs.

And when i first read the thread title, i also though it said TRIPPING in a club
