While this may have been true 2-3 years ago, currently support for president Bush is at an all time low. I believe that another successful terrorist attack on US would highlight the ineffectual nature of Bush's "war on terrorism" and mount public opinion against him. It is true that another terrorist attack on the US could galvanize support for the radical right.
