So you're saying that it's cheesy because it's been "beaten to death"? Please explain.

Anyway, anything by Svenson & Gielen I'd say...

gladly,

when PvD played Sandstorm at mayday 2000, before we starting finding this tune on compilations, before MTV got their hands on it, before the radio played it 9 months later. People were not saying that it was cheez, people were enjoying it, at that time, the lead synth of that tune sounded really different from most of the other trance coming out, something about that tune stood out a bit from the rest of them, despite having that same bloody trance formula.

It wasnt until the radio started playing it when the interviews came out asking PvD why he played a cheesy song, the song became cheesy after it got big.

If Darude's album wasnt full of filler and copies of that one tune we very well could have been still respecting it. At least that is the way things appear from where I live, maybe things are different in the more densely populated areas where people get the chance to party more often.

I was not old enough or rich enough to have attended mayday 2k, so maybe kids did clear the floor when he dropped that tune, I really have no way of knowing, but from the sound of the crowd on the mp3, it seems like it was a success.

You're a fuckin idiot for not knowing that some people may not have the same definition of 'cheesy' as you.

I've heard plenty quality trance on the radio, and i wouldnt call it cheese. And although i do agree with some of the artist you mentioned, i wouldnt say that everything that is 'commercial' is cheesy.

Another thing you need to realize is that trance in europe is all commercial, its not underground. So then by your definition its all cheese!!

This is exactly what i thought, this is a good point to make about such a track like darude - sandstorm. the same can be said for zombie nation im pretty sure i heard that being banged out on big club nights, and really enjoyed them, But now though i cant stand them i dont know if its jus cause our tastes change, or we have to much exposure to these tracks ie MTV and once they find commecial success
I find it hard to class cheesy music, something such as vengaboys is certain cheese, maybe alice deejay and ultrabeat also..
I do agree that there is a thin line between cheese and commercial though. Tiesto - love comes again and more recently shivers by armin have both had success, and been the most successful in all the charts, yet i found these the cheesiest tracks from both artists, and the impression i get from other people is the same.
Yet the mainstream audience seem to love it !?

Its true bout tiestos gig at the olympics the majority of people didnt give a fuk botu him spinning at the olympics, i could hardly hear him also!

you guys seem to misinterpret what i'm saying and how im saying it. not only that but you seem to take offense to the fact that im calling some music cheese. i still like it. some of it like dj sammy is ghey as all fuck and i cant stand it but in general, if its uplifting and/or vocal(not always but often) and very often if its commercial, its cheesy.

i dont see why you're all getting so upset over the fact that you're fans of cheesy music. who cares. you like what you like. i like a few tiesto tracks. i love PVD and ferry. i like melodic trance in general, so i listen to cheese. big fuckin deal...

That's just a common misconception made by idiots.
