I am actually amazed at what progressive is popular and what isn't. There are a few artists out there, who I see as some of the most talented producers today.

In my opinion, Gabriel and Dresden deserve the popularity they recieve. However, I know some would disagree. I do see progressive as a very wattered down genre, unforunately. I say, unfortunately because if you listen to tracks by the likes of Stealthy, Habersham, Nathan Fake, you can see how original and at times emotionally driving progressive can be.

I think the watered down progressive sound that seems to surface more often than I would like to see is comprised of interesting sounds, but the structure of the song is never driving, it never goes anywhere. While, Ozgur Can has produced some great tunes, he has also mastered this sound it would seem. James Holden, another great producer is guilty of this from time to time. I believe part of the problem is the popular producers are producing far too many tracks. I see progressive as the genre that will continue to evolve, continue to expirement. I think it is a very fluid genre in that sense and for that reason it should have more respect than it recieves. To me, trance really hasn't evolved in the way progressive has. Regardless of wether or not you like the "new" progressive sound, you have to admit that is continuely evolving. I do not know if I can say the same about trance.

I agree with you completely, todays progg i don't think have nothing in common with the progg from the nineties. I don't what you guys thinking that Ozgur Khan, Grayarena etc. have the same sound as back then.

And my personal opinion the producers of proggtrance today lack any creativity whatsoever and in my ears they all sound shit. The progg today are so dull it makes me fell asleep as soon as i hear it.

i dont think that mcprog and progressive trance is the same. i think your saying that b.c of a lot of the crap that schulz and armin spins which falls under the genre of progressive trance. therefore everyone defines that music as progressive trance, but in my opinion that isnt even true progressive at all.

I think I'll start call the schulz/armin prog of "minimal trance", their tunes are not banging and driving like 99 prog. and lost their "techish" part...
