but pvd is not a "trance" dj, even if it's the bigger component of his sets, in does not DEFINE him. he plays house, techno, tech house, tech trance and yet a lot more...when he wants to.
given the above fact, why should i look at it as what's the best TRANCE out there for him to make a cd with? if there is relatively no good trance to make a cd with, either don't use that music or don't make the cd at this time lol. yeah we might make up for 1% of the market but some of us are his biggest fans on the planet and chase him around as much as we possibly can to catch him live.... why should we put up with anything below what we've come to expect from our favorite dj?
as an "artist" he should care more about the people that understand and love his "art" not the people seeing it as something new (thats what u call mass appeal) due to lack of knowledge when it's clearly subpar to the high standard he set for himself 4, 5, and more years ago.
there is one thing i can agree with which is your first sentence. we haven't heard the cd, and surely i will give it a listen as i was hoping to LOVE it.... and only good remixing can save the overall mix because some of these tracks just should not be on this disc and if they sound like what i think they sound like then the last thing i have left to say is a BIG FAT BLAH.

No one of us heard the mixed but all start to judge the CD on their tracklist.
There are at least 10 tracks that I've never heard, and thats a good average out of 32!
Tracks like Summer Dream or The Other Side haven't been put on any other compilation till now.
Many of the tracks aren't released yet.
I don't think the tracklist is poor. OK, it's far from TPOD1 but I think its impossible to reach the standards from 2001 today. How could Paul put outstanding tracks on TPOD2 if there aren't any??? Today we have no Club Attack, Into the Night or Rapture.
And one thing: Look at TPOD2 with the eyes of a "normal" trance listener. Not like us that get a PvD Liveset every month and can download new tracks months before they will be released. Yes, for internet junkies like us, some tracks are old, overplayed and boring...but I think we represent only 1% of all trance listeners. The average trance listener will be satisfied by this compilation for sure!!!
I will buy this CD and I'm sure I like it and listen to it more than one time. It's the same with ASOT 2005 or ISOS 4. Most people here on TA were disappointed but I like both CDs. ISOS has so man beautiful tracks, only the mixing is terrible. And ASOT 2005 has a lot of good tracks too and superb mixing by Armin with Ableton.
So maybe some people should have lower expectations. If not, they'll be disappointed each and every time a new CD comes out. And of course: no one forces you to buy this CD |
