I had this guy come into the store wearing a shirt that said something about police. I asked if he was a cop, and he said no, he was in this other division and they called themselves C.O.W. I replied, "oh? Is that instead of pig?"
LMAO!!!
He left so pissed off, and I honestly didn't know what had happened. The girl I was working with was laughing so hard she had tears streaming down her cheeks. She had to explain to me what happened before I got it.
Another time, some guy came in and seemed a little gloomy. I asked how he was doing, thinking perhaps I could say something cheerful because most of the time I get the reply "bad day". Instead he says "my father just died". I was floored, so I paused with a blank face and apologized. I said that my father had passed away too, so I understood and I gave my greatest condolences. He started to cry! A full grown man in his 40's crying in the middle of the store, with 4 people in line behind him. AND I WAS THE ONE WHO MADE HIM CRY!! I was like "I AM SOO SORRY! Do you need a tissue? Can I help at all?"
The only thing he asked for was a bathroom... we don't have one. So after making the poor guy cry, I had to tell him to leave and go somewhere else to clean up.
Ahhh... I have many more Seriously, 5 years of customer service and a million interesting customer situations.

working at subway, for about a year at this point, owner comes in, like all other fast food jobs, its boring, repetitive and flat out horrid.
So he comes in, does he usual check up on all employees, and since i worked alone every shift, the customers were all i had to talk to.
So he is still in the back, a customer comes through, i'm making his food, and he says " is it fun working here" without thinking, because my reply always the same " I hate this damn place".
then, my memory strikes back, as my boss, and owner of the store is standing little more than 3 feet away. Shaking his head, that's when i realized, subway wasn't for me .
Or, none the less, he thought it wasnt.
