It is a lot of fun, and I make lots of tips

However, working two jobs is killing me! T'is temporary until I get a full-time schedule at the new one. Until then, two jobs, and 14 hour days it'll be!

EDIT: This explains my massive absense around here, in case any of you were wondering.

Yeah I was wondering but I kind of figured it was work-related.

I was driving past Pearson on the 401 (Canada's busiest highway) when this happened. I heard a loud noice (noticably different from the thunder which was very prevalent at the time), looked in my rearview mirror and say the tail of a jet angled up into the air from the runway, smoke and a little fire. I first convinced myself that it couldn't have been a crash and that my mind was playing tricks on me due to the lighting and rain (which was severe). About 20 minutes later I heard an announcement on the radio saying there was a crash...

We should all give props to the crew that remained level headed enough to get all 297 passengers out in (by witness accounts) under two minutes. I'd like to think I could remain calm and do that but since I've never been in such a situation one can only speculate.
Good work Air France crew!

They don't have anything else to talk about.

Anyone remember terri schiavo? Or the pope? If history has thought us anything, they're gonna milk this story for months and months until something interresting happends.

I'm really glad, but isn't anyone else totally freaked out by this? I remember watching the first reports and thinking "no one could've possibly surived this".

well the footage you saw was actually from CBC photographer who "happened to be in the area" covering the thunderstorm and its affects at the airport. He heard the bang and went to see what happened. His camera was restricted to inside his car because his cam wasnt equipped for the weather. THe angle that the footage was taken, shows the plan arched INTO the ravine...thought you cant really see it. From that angle, it looks like most of the plane smoked up, but in reality, like 90% of it was beneath camera view.

In ANY case, it was still the awesome job done by the flight crew for getting all those people out systematically and very quickly.

Oh btw, I dont think the pilot "missed" the runway...just landed far too late, and also the slippery conditions didnt make it easier for them to land anyways
