well, its like i said..

i run 2 pc's with dlink 54mbps. i've only had it drop out a few times in the entire 7 months ive been running the network, and always get top speeds.

you tell me why dlink sucks, djway, and others? it works fine for me dickwads.

I've got a ethernet dlink router.. it was a piece of shit for the first ~9 months... had to reboot it daily, atleast.. slowly improved with each firmware release, now it's stable weeks at at time! although not without the terrible problems at the beginning
the interface is pretty crappy, add port forwards, have to reboot it... whatever you do, have to reboot it :/ but atleast it actually works properly now!

i know people with dlink wireless cards in their lappys.. i dunno what the current dlink stuff is like, but I know like last year, they had a LOT of problems having it work with non-dlink gear.. well it doesnt work at all
swap in a different brand of card, and works flawlessly

dlink's been around forever and most of their stuff's good. been that way since arcnet was fast and t-connectors were worth something. 802.11x is flaky regardless of vendor.

ben you shoulda just asked me. ive got a spare access point here you can use and i'll grab you a wireless card for cheap from somewhere. let me borrow on the run for jules birthday at altitude and i'll even set it all up for yez!

just a note for anyone new to belkin... don't flash the farker without changing the extension on the flash file first. trust me on that. the result if you don't is three weeks wait as you send the modem away and wait for the replacement. it's funny, when I called technical support they pretended to go through the diagnosis steps with me but once they worked out it was due to their f*cked up instructions and crappy modem they immediately said "we'll send you a new one".

apart from a few downtimes (more blowstra's fault than belkin's) and regular disconnects (fixed by firmware upgrade) i haven't had too many issues.

i can't send files on irc (pwned paulie!) but that's alright coz i don't use irc much anymore

edit: i don't have adsl so i can't comment on belkin's adsl/wirelss gear.

edit2: refer to http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/ for heaps of opinion/discussion about wireless setups.

you do realise you can assign ports in your DCC options to any open ports you have/set aside on your router?

yes, it don't work.

mirc has a problem with finding the external ip of the router.

port forwarding already set on the router.

sending worked a couple of times but then it fux0red up and meh.

all good though coz i gots no time for irc these days.
