What does this have to do with anything? There is very small portion of Utah as other states and Canada that practice Polygamy. Mormons do not practice polygamy they banned this before any of us ever came into existence. Polygamists are a different religion, once again please don’t bring things up that you are uneducated about or have no relevance to the topic of conversation.
Nuff said! |
I actually wasn't making a religious comment, I was making a Utah comment. In fact, one of my best friends from my childhood is Mormon and he's not a polygamist. I just found it weird that that would be a link under news, as though it's a common occurence or something. Try to find that same link on the NY Times website, or even the Des Moines Register. You'll only find it in Utah. Maybe a story or a headline, when something actually happens, but to have a link devoted to it...
Lastly, cut the "uneducated" potshots, it just makes you sound defensive, especially since your response indicates that you inferred I was saying it was a Mormon thing, which I can tell you, I was aware polygamy is no longer a Mormon thing long before this incident occurred.

My mistake I apologize, I was combing the two comments regarding Utah. However please look again the polygamy link is a link to a news story regarding a HUGE custody case of children in a polygamy family that finally reached a verdict. So yes the link if relevant. Like I said before please know all the facts before saying something.
Yes I do get a bit defensive when people who have not been to this state and no nothing about this state bag on it. It’s an amazing state, yes there are some weird laws here people too but you get that where ever you live. I’m sure if we starting holding every state under a microscope like people do to Utah we would find some pretty funky things…..

I'm originally from western Pennsylvania, and believe me, I've seen some pretty funky things there, too. There's a reason some people refer to it as "Pennsyltucky." I mean, I accept the deficiencies there (and in NYC, too). Generally speaking, I think if you can't step back and look at what wrong with where you live, you've got a problem. When you do, you can accept some criticism, but point out where others have misinformed perceptions much more effectively. Nobody's perfect and neither is any place.
