Re: i predict that Bush will pull out most of the troops in Iraq before...

his term ends. he will try (again) to say that the mission is accomplished. he will point to the iraqi elections and the overthrow of SH as evidence of success. he will salute the soldiers as they get to the US and he will attend rallies and parades. he will have many photo-ops.
his motivation will be his legacy. as a consequence, the remaining troops that remain in iraq will have a tougher fight, but this will not be a surprise because he has cared little for the well-being of the troops (as evidened by the poor planning before and after the war).

The salute to soldiers and photo-ops happened, but not much else. Most recently the surge has seen more troops, not less. Any draw downs are simply pulling out some of the surged troops as far as I've seen it.
I think 2008 is going to be used to determine how / when troops leave. Bush is just licking wounds until he leaves now, all the attention is on who's going to clean up his mess.
Seeing as this was a three year prediction, any thoughts on 2010?
My call is US disengagement, protectionisim, and recession. Iraq will still be in civil war but Western troops will be all gone.
