No, its stupidity. They spend thousands of dollars mastering their tracks, then BOOM, they run it on some 12 year-old's P2, compress it to MP3 and sell it in a form in which they insulted a couple of years ago. Call it smart marketing, I call it mass-whore commercialism. Download the MP3 until it gets released, then buy the vinyl/cd/wave file when its available. This is nonsense.

Nah, I like vinyl, but I'm no purist.

I had the feeling that the tunes were huge wave verions and was seriously considering it to complement potential cdjs. If I ever bought tunes online it would be untouched-out of the studio-original wavs. Why pay for the same file I can get on any DC hub I look in? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of playing this on a big sound system (I dont wanna hear yadayada about 320 being good enough. Fact of the matter is compression degrades the audio quality, why get extra)? And why the hell would you charge more for a high quality MP3? Record labels are really dumb. Artists are dumber.

I agree with this completely. I wish they started selling wavs

+ 1^lots

i hope to god that one day digi downloads are presented as uncompressed wav files. hopefully as hosting costs and connection speeds improve this will happen. i still think that releasing cds is the way forward. digital downloads are just a cheap option for the label. you dont get the full package, i miss the artwork and the actual product! ok ok you can still buy vinyl but vinyl is dated, who would wana buy vinyl apart from djs? and even alot of djs these days would prefer cds. in an ideal world every label would release their music on both vinyl and cd! thats my opinion anyway. I don't like what's happening, digi downloads should never replace vinyl... cds should IMO.

quite like this track though! dont like the coldharbour mix but i like the g&d remix, just heard it a few too many times now

PS. Mike, have you actually tried playing 320 kbps mp3s on a big club system? Is the audio quality noticeable vs wav vs cd/vinyl? I mean we can all debate over numbers and compression and frequencies, but in REALITY it all comes down to what your ears can actually hear (and LAME mp3 is suppossed to take out what you CAN'T hear).

Just curious what your findings have been...

yeah personally i cant tell a 320 mp3 from a wav, unless its like a really really well recorded guitar or something then its usually un noticable to me. but its the principle. its not the same owning an mp3 as it is owning a cd or vinyl.
