One reality show I did love was on ESPN and was called Beg, Borrow, and Deal. The basis of the show was a list of 100 sports-related fantasies (Play one-on-one on an NBA court, Ride the winner of a Triple Crown race, score a goal on an NHL goalie) worth one to three points based on preceived difficulty. The contestants would start in a city on one coast and have to get to a city on the other (think Boston to L.A.). The contestants were not allowed to take money and no car was given to them. The first team to obtain a certain number of points (I think 20?) and get to the city on the far coast won a Great Prize. They basically had to call everyone they knew, beg from strangers on the street, whatever it took to do go to different cities and do a task. There were all sorts of additional rules to make it harder like: you could only get points from 1 task per city or you could only stay at a person's place (apartment, house) for 12 hours.
I wouldn't watch it for seasons and seasons, but it was entertaining in an Amazing Race sort of way. I wish they'd bring it back every once in awhile...not like a scheduled series, but ocassionally a new series
