Ive noticed a lot more people chat on IM and then you meet them and they are boring. Mainly 2 things.

Much more clever repartee can happen on IM than your normal conversations that are distracted, ambiguous and your goal is more time spending oriented than conversation.

The biggest things YOU can do are go out to a park and sit down and make TALKING your goal.

two things you need to do are ask questions questions questions. Women think they are boring and not worth talking about so you need to prod em a bit usually. Also, maybe you talk about something interesting, wax a tad philosophical and then get her thoughts on it. And no letting her cop out on it. Thoughtful remarks and comments on what she has said and then go back.

Listen, comment, ask, listen.

and touch her. Maybe she is feeling the relationship is ambiguous and she doesn't know what to do with you hanging out with her like you do your guy buddies.

I dunno, its all conjecture.

Everyone is always scared of "what to talk about"

If you guys click, it really isnt an issue. Im sure youve had 3-4 hour converations lasting until 4 am...

thats another good idea, if she stays up late, having a drink/smoke and talking means you are way more open and the conversations tend to be a little deeper.

sucks that you are minors because grabbing a bottle of wine and having some bread and cheese in a park is awesome way to do it because its an "enjoying life" feeling and talk isn't as necessary.

but yeah, later night talks, more touching.

Ask about future plans, college, goals, life, love, god...

the other thing is to have experience and knowledge. Read up on Zen or something and start talking to her about what youve learned and see what she thinks about it all..

Seriously though, if she is your 'girlfriend', you guys should have been finished with all that ice-breaking shit ages ago.

Just pick something that you can both relate to and have opinions on, finding common conversational ground is the best way to hack away at that frozen tundra, and you (hopefully) know her enough to know what she would be capable of contributing to a conversation.

you said you guys talk online...well...what the hell do you talk about online? why not just do that but in person. bring up music or movies or something you have a lot to say about so if she is being a little shy you can try and bring her out of it...
