I guess you have to know the Belgian techno scene a bit to understand this, we're very spoiled here, lots of big names at various venues every weekend (and it's not like it's such a big country ). But if an international dj comes to Belgium more than 2-3 times a year, people start to bash them because they have already seen them (I think this is a ridiculous reason, who knows the dj plays a totally different set the next time).
Anyway, you never hear these kind of comments about Richie. I'm not saying he's not a good dj because he is (in his style), but some people worship him too much. OK he has done some innovative things in his career, but I've also heard sets from him that are filled with tracks like Murder Was The Bass and other very wellknown records. Those were good sets, not too bleepy or too minimal. But if someone like Monika Kruse plays the same stuff, the Belgian crowd (or at least the forum elitists) will call her a commercial whore.
I think this explains? Sorry if I bother you guys too much with this "Belgian problem", I hope it's not the same in other countries
