How is this news?

Before he invaded Afghanistan he said "we're on a crusade".

This didn't really catch me off guard...

THAT BEING SAID, wow, it really is a medieval situation if Bush really said that and if his government (and him) really believe that...(although unlikely).

Well I must concur with Trancer here, only because it does seem quite apparent that you defend Bush on pretty much any and every cause brought up here on the forums. The fact that you may be Conservative I mark nothing against - hell I disagree with you guys all the time but I swear I'd take Shakka or Neophono out boozin' any night of the week if I had the chance. But the breed of Bush apologists that are akin to, say, the Hannities or the Limbaughs are quite a breed apart, IMO. You may certainly disagree with Bush on some instances, but I have yet to hear such examples coming from you.

Okay, how's this - I'll give you a list of things I agree with Bush on, and you give a list of things you disagree with him on, how's that? And to make things even easier, I'll go first:

1. Invading Afghanistan - absolutely correct and 100% behind him.

2. Ability to bring the country together immediately post-9/11. I thought his straight-shooting rhetoric fit very well for that particular time.

3. First tax cut. Made fiscal sense, though at first I disagreed with it (admittedly, Occ had something to do with changing my mind.)

4. Wanting to create a Palestinian state. Though I think he could have done a much better job in certain aspects with this scenario, I do agree at least with his philosophical approach.

5. Was once a pretty big hard-partier. Something that we both have in common, except I didn't have to turn to Jebus to get me outa the mess. Whatever works, I guess.
(side note - Admittedly, I still love taking strolls down Knob Creek every now and then. And the Mrs. having a part-time bartending job at our local brewery on the weekends doesn't hurt much either ).

6. Revamping the Intelligence community. I agree it needed some changin' out of it's Cold War mentality. Of course the details on revamping it I disagree with him on, but the overall philosophy I agree with.

I'm sure there's some others I can come up with, but I'm a little pressed for time this morning.

Your turn - what do you disagree with Bush on?
(am I hijacking this thread? Sorry).

Fair's fair.
Sure I take the stand on a lot of anti-Bush stuff but it's more to argue the point being raised more than actually defending Bush himself; he just happens to be the target du jour here for 90% of the posts; so what's wrong with a little debate?
I would have thought that was the point of being here but I guess you guys would rather hear yourselves talk?
Heaven forbid anyone question the Left!

But for the record, there are things I don't agree with when it comes to American policy. Yes, I know, be still your heart.
In no particular order:

1. His Supreme Court nomination of Harriet Miers; I didn't notice any knee-pads when I saw her last...

2. His FEMA nomination of Michael Brown only because later on we find, much like Miers, didn't have the qualifications for such a posting.
(Something I was quite forward with but some may have forgotten because everyone here was of the same opinion at the time).
Cronyism appears to be an elite disease...

3. His stance in the War on Drugs when it comes to the area of responsible recreational marijuana smoking.
quote:

The Bush administration's 2004 "National Drug Control Strategy," released by the White House this week, inappropriately proposes spending $25 million to establish random student drug testing for high school students, and unnecessarily calls for the "compassionate coercion" of millions of otherwise law-abiding American citizens who smoke marijuana responsibly, NORML's Executive Director Keith Stroup said today.

>>Source<<
Refer Madness appears to have never ended...

4. Doesn't anyone remember the passing of "Eminent Domain"?
I hope to hell that doesn't reach our borders...
I know I've posted regarding this a couple of times.

5. His homosexual marriage stance. I don't condone gay relationships but I see nothing wrong with them wanting to further their relationships either. Two people in love are two people in love and it's not like they're putting a gun to anyone's head...

6. Here's a doozie...“Compromise Bill” Re: Terri Schiavo Signed Into Law...

I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of atm...

So while it may appear I'm pro-Bush, I'm replying more from the right-side of the border than actually defending or apologising? (HAHAHA; he's not even mine to appligise for! ) Bush.

Nah, with all those strange voices in my head, I hear myself talking just a bit too often

Fair enough, and of course I certainly welcome opposing viewpoints. Christ I wouldn't be here if I merely wanted to hear myself talk or find people who agree with my view ALL of the time. I've got the liberal blogs for that crap when I feel all down and blue.

But considering that it did at least appear that you pretty much defended Bush 100% of the time, I at least wanted to see if there was any common ground at all - so now my anxieties are quelled, and I shall rest easy with dreams of fluffy bunnies and unicorns tonight.....

No worries.

Just don't forget your moist towel...
