i think the argument is not witch year between 95 and 99 is the best year but the years when the trance scean really flourished and then kinda slid a lil... but i still think tere is alot of good new talent out there (i.e. mikey mike... good shit dood) and if i where a promoter and it where up to me i woulkd throw a party.... invite Oakenfold to throw down an oldschool set, all trance from 95-99 and then to top it off have alpha zone come down and thrw down a VS match with his new school style... mixing all old tracks with new production talent... i may be the only one in the world who who like to see it, but i STILL think it would be a SICK vibe

Theres definately something about productions from 98/99. The quaility and techniques for great uplifting were just being used en-masse but they wern't being abused like they are today. That and the fact that you still actually needed an expensive studio to produce trance as opposed to a laptop, meant that producers were few and far between and what was coming out was just pure quality.

There is also an undenyable optimism about tracks from that time, like it was all still something fresh and amazing. I dont think many tracks today have that feeling anymore.

agreed... im searching new tracks to expand my collection.. however there just doesn't seem to be that touch in them anymore that gives me the overwhelming feeling of being uplifted... everything i hear is kinda bland and doesn't give me that rush ive always got from the late 90's there IS the odd track.. but now they r few and far between like the producers back then... mabey thats why jungle and house is taking over where im fron once agian... who knows

exactly. trance has been done to death n the producers can't recreate what once was. New trance is boring n bland. House is taking over, but ti's in a variety of forms that doens't suit everyone. for example i cna't stand gay disco funky house and the stuff from Angello and Igrosso jsut reeks of commerciality. You're not gonna see the mass love of one dance music for a while.. especially while bands are so popular. I do think the Nu Skool DnB is sommat to look out for atm though.. it's making big move sin the UK.

Curious, why?

I'd say I have fair knowledge of trance, but think 99 lived up to the hype.

I was being controversial for its own sake, but I do think 1996 has some incredibly good quality tracks that have been forgotten because what was to come superseded them so much in popularity.

1999 was a great year, but some of the more schlocky anthems sound a bit naff compared to the sublime combination of melody, drama and old-fashioned trance values that 1996 had.

I discovered TRANCE in 2000 on Napster. I had 18 years old. I was so amazed when I heard tracks from Armin, Ferry, DuMonde...etc. It was exactly the sound I was looking for during many years before 2000.
I remember the time when I played in my mother's car very loudy : Marc and Claude "I NEED YOUR LOVIN'" (DarkMoon remix) or Rom and Comix "THE DAY AFTER" (Dj Lee remix)...this kind of sound has definitely changed my life and, if today, I feel soooo
that's because this sound disapeared completly and has been replaced by ASOT sound...why?

People who discovered trance only 2 years ago will be addicted to new sounds, but for guys like me, it's not the same cas, because I made a real sentimental love story with those old sonorities...
