The dogs and the cow had both gotten loose during hurricane katrina, the pics were taken about 5-7 days after the hurricane so the dogs were getting rather hungry. I think a State trooper took the pics then either animal control or the police shot both dogs as they would become dangerous to humans. (Imagine if it was 2 pitbulls vs 1 unarmed human...the dogs would shred the human)
So the dogs werent killed by the bull.

BINGO!!

Now for the true story:

Under the first pic: "15 September, Phoenix, the state of Alabama. Two pitbulls, which remained after the hurricane (without their masters) are able to obtain food for themselves independently."

Second pic: "This bull, in all likelihood, has strayed or been kicked out of its herd, and became their victim."

Third pic: "The dogs were not bothered by the presence of the photo journalist, who was in an area recently gone through by the national guard, which patrols the regions which suffered from Katrina"

Fourth pic: "Finale, history - the dogs are shot down."

Now the question remains whether they should have been shot or not by the national guard!...

On the one hand, they're just trying to get food the natural way they know how to.
On the other hand, they could have easily done this to a child or adult. Could you imagine these 2 dogs on a toddler?!?!

You're right! if they were that desparate that they attacked a bull, then anything could have been a target.

Pitbulls have awefull temperaments. They shouldnt be kept as pets as they turn too easily on people. Ive heard of many cases where these sort of dogs attack family members (infants) in their own back yards.

In the UK you have to have a licence to keep the American pitbull(under the dangerous dogs act 1991) The dogs cannot be bred, sold, exchanged or given away. They must be kept on a lead and muzzeled at all times when in public places, they cannot be handeled by anyone under the age of 16. The dog cannot be abandoned or let stray. Anyone breaking these rules get 6 months in Jail. The same applies to the Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentrino and Filo Braziliero.

I once saw on Animal planet, i think it was "Animal Cops Houston" where a American pit bull was tied up to a poll and abandoned. The humane society officers were going to leash it and put it into a cage, but the dog was so vicious it looked like the poll was going to snap. So the guy draws his gun incase the dog breaks free. If it did there would have been hell for the humane society officers.

To make light of the situation, i have used my expertese from my course in Animal behaviour to show you whats going through the animals minds when the image was taken....
