It seems like Hollywood ran out of ideas this year, so they just started re-hashing all the old ones. Problem is, just because something was successful the first time around doesn't mean it's worthy of a sequel. And just because something was successful as a game or TV seris doesn't make it theatre-worthy.

I think the reason somethings are successful as games or tv series', is because that type of medium had an element that the big screan just cannot provide.

With games, its the interaction that drives us to play. We play to be involved in the story telling process, and want some control over the outcome. For Doom, they took that right out of the delivery. Now you are just watching.

For TV shows, its usually that the writters, characters and story lines did now allow for 1.5 hours of development and it lended itself to a shorter (22min) show, where the problem can be found and taken care of quickly and neatly.

It seams that the worst of the year isn't just bad movies but horrible ones. There have been a few good ones like A History of Violence, Serenity and Wedding Crashers, Crash but that's about it, the rest is ruled by incredibly boring and incredibly stupid movies.

Carlito's Way Rise to Power
Dark Water
Domino
Doom
Fantastic Four
the Cave
the Dukes of Hazzard
the Fog
the Transporter 2
Waiting

Totally agree and i'm glad i haven't seen any of these....

However i loved The Constant Gardener!!

Crash is movie of the year so far.

Sin City was awesome as well. That's basically all.

I've really wanted to see that all year but I'll likely wait until it's out on DVD now.

Uh.. Serenity was a pretty awesome movie in which case I don't there is anything wrong with the fact that it came from a TV series (which wasn't bad either).

But Monster-in-Law was such a fabulous film. J-Lo on the big screen screen is like a tiny slice of heaven.

she really needs to give up on the acting thing and go back to shaking her ass fulltime.

whats the premise behind that movie? J-Lo's mother-in-law is a bitch? Hah, if I was a woman and my son was getting married to J-Lo I'd act like the biggest bitch on the planet too.
