must say, not the most original melody, but I still like the way you give your tunes such a power and great drive!
love it!

Anyways, nice share wim. Maybe the lead has a tad too much low end, at least that's what i notice in the break. In the mainpart it fits nice in the mix. Not very hooky melody, but this still keeps you moving. Well these points are not enough to lose 4 points on the scale of this forum.

1 for drive, 2 for lack of originality in the lead and plucks (personal opinion, wim hates when I critisize it ), and the last one is for total small stuff (like the no fx in the break thingy)

p.s.
Wim I'm trying to remix sorrow again, I hope I'll get it this time
The track is so hard to remix to something else other then uplifting.
And I want something else.

Take your time Omer

I can see where your criticism comes from, though I see it as in a way I'm not original to myself; I can't really find any other recent producer that still holds on to this sound though? Or am I wrong?

Rich: by all means, feel free to have a go at it as you like.

Every uplifting producer uses this kind of sound in some way, but eben if I'm wrong.
Every track should be different, unique.
I'm glad you finally see it and not get so pissed off about it.
Try just once, I can even help, to sit with your fav synth and play with it. Get some new sounds, Use weirder effects on leads (flangers, phasers).
Use gated melodies to build up the track, use more melodies in your tracks in general. This will make your own tracks better.
This will make you much better then ferry, armin, pvd or any other big producer (since they do the same thing that you do now, re-use their sound, but in a really horrid & popy way).
Don't think that because you were signed you reached the top, try new things, new styles (sad melodies for example or mellow but still uplifting), when you remix don't just copy-paste melodies and use your own sounds.
When you make original tracks make it with your heart, make sure you really love it, make sure you got everything rigth and always accept critisizem unless it doesn't feel right for you.
Sit down and think how this track should sound like in your opinon.
If it's a remix why does the original artist made it lie that?
Is there any possibilty that I'll find something that the original producer didn't use (some kind of efffects you like more, athmosphere is not for your liking ect).
What should be the athmosphere of the song? Should there be any vocals?

ALWAYS THINK AND BE YOURSELF, LISTEN WITH YOUR HEART, NOT YOUR MIND AND DO NOT LOOSE THAT SPECIAL TOUCH THAT YOU CAN GIVE, BECAUSE THE MOMENT YOU WILL LOSE IT YOU'LL BECOME JUST LIKE ANYONE

This is what trance should be like, this is what it is.
Not what ferry or any other mofo says it is.
Make yourself think that you reached new tops and made new things.
Make yourself belive you can do better.

Now give me an AMEN for that

May trance be returned to his original state at once.
I'm always here as a friend Wim.

Sincerly yours,
Omer Katz.

Very patronizing comments above! Its like you wrote this out for a noob!

I have know Wim for a long time and I know he make his music with his heart - or surely he wouldn't keep at it! Wim, like any other artist has his own sound, you can't take that away from him! Its okay you dribbling on about how he should change, what you need to realize is that there are so many artists signed and that 99.9% of things that can be different in a track have already been done!

Like I said before Wim has his own sound and I, like others can clearly recognize a track! What does this say? For me Wim, can stick to his sound because the formula works, otherwise he would have got signed to the big labels!

He's always been patronizing towards me Steve, so don't bother with it (at least I don't)

Being signed does means much to me, though it'll always stay uncertain. It doesn't change the way I am, the sounds I like or my interpretation of 'trance music'. It's funny how you talk about free will and "be yourself" Omer, when you mention words like "should" and "make sure"... I think you need to revise your thinking of somebody else as a person.

Hmmmm what a strange post....from what I hear I can always tell an Icone sound track - very driving, those plucks in it and very distinctive synth line, he has his own style, so what is your problem?
Perhaps he should go to Kenya and record the sound of a huge giraffe fart, then bring it back and use it in one of his songs. May sound like shit (no pun intended ) but at least he is being original
I also notice you are born in 1989 - making you 16 - and you are already as prententious as Bono

As for the track - I liked it - very driving and the melodies at the start are very nice - though i didn't like the main melody much. but still an awesome track.

I know I'm cocky and arrogant, I don't mean too. It just sounds that way and it is prolly that way.
I just try to help. Maybe I should understand that you don't want it.
The way that I treat to pepole is not always respectfully but I tend to tell the truth.
You know what forget it.
We certainly don't agree, thats one thing I know.
I have my own opinion and you have yours.

@retiro: I didn't say wim does it for the money, I just think that being signed changed him somehow. He sticks to one sound, in all of his tracks.
If you think it's ok it doesn't mean that I have to do so, right?
@RickyM: "from what I hear I can always tell an Icone sound track very driving, those plucks in it and very distinctive synth line, he has his own style, so what is your problem? "
My problem is that it always sounds the same. no variation.
He just uses his own presets and write melodies.
Maybe I'm all wrong about it, and maybe not.
I just hear too many producers who doesn't sound the same but you can recognize their style. Always.
Maybe I just can't like uplifting anymore. You know it's really funny cuz I don't agree with myself I do like uplifiting. So what is wrong? myself? wim? prolly me.

Sorry,
Omer.

Granted you are entitled to your opinion, doesn't mean everybody as to hear it, especially Wim! If the formula works then let it be! I think you need to look at many trance producers to see that they all stick to a sound! I guess its call personalising... not a bad thing!

Quote "I just try to help. Maybe I should understand that you don't want it." At the end of the day Wim hasn't changed since he got his music signed and he knows enough about producing to have made a success out of it, I'm sure he doesn't want 16 year old children dribbling on in his ear... he has better things to do!

Don't worry Wim, you have enough of a fan base to not worry about comments like these!

Cheers Steve

Sorry,
Omer.
first of all, there is no thing such as uplifting trance, and if there is, its just another word for cheese (music that is easy to like)

thats what uplifting trance is, Trance that is easier to like for the common ear, and often sticks with u on the first listen..

-----------

Icone is the symbol of what VST trance is.. i dont think his tracks are above the average, but still.. i has a damn good polished sound, and he sticks with the same formula, its his signature sound, "driving energic trance" his productions are far from original but sounds 100% full..

i think this track is pretty good, best ive heard from him..

this tracks have some very nice effects to it, makes it appropriate for more than one listen.. although its not so deep, so it catches on the first listen, for me atleast..

and, Drow: u cant change how people make their music, u can try but ir rarley works, this is what Icone WANTS to make, and thumps up, he makes what he wants to make.. what is in his mind..

i sincerely wish, i could do the same

If it's from the heart... so be it.

@retrio: "Don't worry Wim, you have enough of a fan base to not worry about comments like these!"
I never said I don't like it.
I do. But it's not what it used to be.
You think I'm all fucked up, well yeh you are right.
But why Wim should be different? I tell everyone what I think of them.
Even if it hurts.

@Subtle: They do sound full, but the not 100% original is the thing that bothers me so much.
I want to keep to hear Wim's music, I really do.
But it's like you wake up and and the same day repeats over and over.
Just in different words.

Again pepole I'm not trying to hurt anyone. If I did I truly regrat that.

Ferwell,
Omer.

p.s.
I won't comment in this thread anymore or in any Icone thread in the future.
I know when I'm not welcomed.
