I used to adore the original, and I hate to say that it's been kind of ruined for me. Hundereds of years of beautiful classical music, and the same tune is remixed to death, and over-played to the point where i can't listen to the original without expecting 'it's just another day' to come in at the endof the first phrase...

so how about making a sample for me mate?

the sickest tune I heard that could probably beat this tune out is from the movie

"runaway train" at the end. It was something in D

I need to do research to find the name. It was not remaked but if you like that dark shit classical emotional stuff this is the tune you need! I will do research to find it!!

update

'Et in terra pax' (II) from Gloria in D major, RV 589

thats the tune

It makes me laugh when people throw the "rip" allegations around, especially when all the artists are all given there fair share of credit in the......CREDITS ON THE ACTUAL RECORD......

Who would have ever thought of giving creit in the credits

I've only got the choral version sung by New College, Oxford. (excuse the poor ripping quality - (frequent clicking)

http://s58.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1DBNNLGXEJ6IM1JNR4S5589KRB

But you get the idea. It's the same as the original. If you subistutue the voices for strings, that's how the original sounds like, except maybe a few keys higher.

William Orbit's version is another version that's pretty much the same as the original. Just synthesised strings instead of real strings.

Personally, I really don't think the original strings version touches the choral arrangement. The clashes resoloving onto suspensions and then cadences just make it sounds incredible. Speaking as a violinst, for this type of piece, I don't believe that you can get the same passion out of a violin that you can a voice.

If you're looking for other choral works like this, full of emotion, I can name plenty!

I have the choral version (a different one) used on the Homeworld soundtrack. However, for what it's worth, the original strings version is the best (the one used on Platoon). Orbit's version is pretty similar and I like that too. While the track works very well in choir, I think it does take away the pure edge somewhat.

The trance remixes are cack, by the way.

One of the greatest recordings ever made!

Agreed, I see it like Joe Smooth - Promise Land and Style Council - Promise Land. Style Council just doesn't capture the same emotion the original did.
