I slept all day yesterday, so I was only able to get to my review now.
Okay so, arrived at Spundae with the Kozmik Twins (Nathan & Daniel) and Alana around 10pm. Alana gets turned away this time from the door man. Her id is real (but not hers) and usually works, but this time no luck. So I drive her over to Avalon and come back. Get inside and Mike is throwing it down. Dropping some great tracks, but not banging it too hard cause he didn’t want to steal the show like last time. I went downstairs for a bit and Kristina was just starting to warm up for Thomas as well. I did my rounds and found all the TAs to say hi and give hugs too, then went back upstairs. Nitemer was just getting on and already dropping some dancing tracks. Sounded kind of housey, but yet trance as well. I had no clue what the tracks were named but they did their purpose and had me dancing. Went back downstairs for a bit and saw Thomas getting crazy. Some serious trance going on in this room. Great mixing, and a pretty darn cute guy.
Alright so a few cranberry and vodkas later and its finally time for Ghosh to go on. Um yeah, I now remember why I had been trying so hard to get him to play out in my home town. Ghosh played his heart out, lots of new remixes I have never heard and new tracks as well. Not once did I see him take his hands off the mixer. Every moment behind those desks he was mixing the hell out of those tracks. Maybe I have heard of some of those tracks before, but the way he mixes them, they sound new to my ears. Sick Sick Sick!! Don’t ever expect Ghosh to be looking up at the crowd waving his hands up in the air or signing autographs while he is mixing. He’s got way too much going on. These boys have some serious mixing skills.
I went to the main room for a bit. I have to agree with Neinerlove, it wasn’t my style at all. All I heard were a bunch of top 40s songs and it killed it. There was no bass what so ever and all it sounded like was a rock concert. I left immediately when I heard a Nirvana song coming on. It just didn’t sound like any type of dance music. But what ever, Randy and Bjorn were rocking out and they looked happy as can be, so I guess Armand served his purpose.
After Ghosh finishes, I get a call from Alana, she said to get my ass over there before after hour power starts, so I can catch some Seb Fontaine. So I fly over to Avalon, but the line is still wrapped around the street. I try calling Alana but her phone is now dead. Eeeeeek, what the heck am I going to do. I start passing back and forth and a nice gentleman approaches me and says how much money do I have. Lolol I am like um $40, he said he will take $20 and the doorman will take the other $20 and they will get me in. Well I considered this and emergency since it is now passed 2:30 and there’s no time to waste. So I give them my money and I get in. The place is over capacity and the most packed I have ever seen Avalon. I find Alana and go up on the balcony and let Seb blast us with his sick ass bass for the rest of the night.
Left Avalon around 6am and head to Bobs. Bobs is over capacity too when we first get there. Eric, Ghosh, Robert and Bob give us a great come down set to the crazy night. Awesome conversations and one on one time with my close friends ended the night perfectly. Left Bobs sometime after noon, went home and crashed.
