look around localy in some sort of city buy and sells. i found 2 technincs for 550 cdn using this method.

if you know you're hardcore, then start w/vinyl.

if it's more of a casual hobby, i would probably go cd's. because it's cheaper to download what you want... and therefore use the saving to buy more music.

there have been times where i have paid over $20 for an import double pack for just ONE SONG. think of how many mp3s i could have bought w/that money. do i reget it? no. but if i weren't very serious about it, i'd rather be buying mp3's than deal w/the b.s. associated w/vinyl.

Download tracktor or somthing till you get your turntables that way you will learn alot about the concept of mixing

Yep. Reading everything you can find saves asking stupid questions about style here later. There are some pretty decent tutorials out there (google), watch other djs and experiment yourself. If you have any idea you will pick it up pretty quickly.

thnx for the input helps me a lot..another rookie question buying records its not good to buy full album records? 2 of my friends that do spin i asked them one said dont buy full album records at all and the other does use full album records

I have a few LPs. There is a big sound quality difference btw an LP and a single. It's also harder to "see" the song in the grooves of an LP. And the songs on LPs tend to not be as DJ-friendly. There are exceptions, of course. As when an LP is split into 4 records or so, especially for DJs. Then, it's the same as playing a single.

Pretty much, yeah. Purchased downloads, rips from purchased vinyl, and unreleased promos. You can't exactly play tracks from mix CDs.
