true . and really i think that is the test of a really good song. when you play Mental Cube - Q from 1991 out in a set today and it's one of the best songs in the set...well you know it's a classic and well done...

Mainstream trance getting more techy and housy is just a retro trend, IMO. The early-mid ninties are back, just with updated equipment and more attention payed to precision engineering.

The emalgamation of techno to trance is very evident in the last couple of years. Sander Van Doorns work is testament to that. Imo hes gona be the one of the biggest producer/DJ in trance at some point in the next couple of years. The rise of tech-trance or whatever u might call it has been to the detrement of more melodic material. A lot of melodies are shoddy or dont have enough drive etc.

I really dont know what people expect trance producers to do to "evolve" the sound. If any of you have fresh ideas why dont you make some tunes ureself! The bottom line is parties with good DJ's still rock out. The progressive and deeper sounds also came back this year and the more chunky stuf sounds really good in clubs. As long as there are people out there who love putting their hands in the air and having a good time its all good imo

If trance has "evolved," then its not trance anymore. At least not what everyone here is looking for. Youre not going to find the same kind of tracks that were produced in the late nineties, just as no one produces what we know as "disco" anymore.

In my opinion, this isnt about an evolution of "trance", this is about the emergence of new genres. Trance, as you know it, is not trance anymore. So vasque in the glory of 1999 - it's not going to happen again.

Well, it is still trance but maybe you could give it a new name or sub-genre of trance. Just like after 50+ years we still have Rock but there are a lot of different sub genres from it.
