where and who told u that paradigm was getting Yoji ?
Paradigm always brings a excellent variety to VIVA or to Toronto. in case u missed
Airwave
Cor Fijneman
Mark Norman
Matt Darey
Andy Moor
M.I.K.E.
Filo & Peri
Marcel Woods
and now
Pulser
Signum
Kenneth Thomas
Elevation
and many more to come
and not to mention The Purple room parties.
As for Yoji like someone said earlier ... there isnt a big enough fan base of him in TO. Just because u me and few others want him to come doesnt mean a promoter will run to book him. things take time and good things come to those who wait. so have patience drink some milk and enjoy what is being offered meanwhile.
p.s. Bring Yoji to TO |
An guy named Mikey told me. He knows much of the Paradigm crew apparently, and he said Yoji was set to go at Viva in December. I didn't believe him, and apparently I was right.
Paradigm has brought some good Djs to Viva I agree, but I'm not the biggest fan of progressive, and I'd love to see more energetic DJs come like Stoneface and Terminal or Alex Morph.
Not a big enough fanbase? Take a look at the "DJs you want to see in 2006" thread. Yoji is one of the most mentioned Djs in that thread. I honestly know about 50 people that would easily go to a Yoji show if he came to Toronto. And those 50 people know other people too that would be interested in seeing Yoji.
I think the whole "not enough fans" thing is rubbish. You're telling me DJs like Sam Punk, Scot Project, or Lady Dana have a bigger fanbase in Toronto than Yoji? Give me a break.
Besides, how can you expect the EDM scene in Toronto to grow, if no one ever books "new" DJs to come. Marcel Woods came to Toronto for the first time recently I believe. Nobody knew how big his fanbase here was.
I know people who are techno fans, house fans, hardstyle fans, you name it, that all want to see Yoji.
Heck, I even know a couple of people that don't like hard dance or hard trance all that much, but they are captivated by the overall performance Yoji puts on at any given show.
Yoji doing a set is more than just music; it's an entire performance that not many other DJs do.
Yoji's sets are unique in that he'll drop almost anything, from techno, to trance, all the way to hardstyle. His style appeals to a broad audience, and his sets can vary dramatically depending on where he plays.
I've listened to Yoji sets from the UK where he'd be pounding away at 155bpm with the bass maxed out, while you get other sets like this year's Sensation Black which by comparison was a pretty soft set.

Umm, the statement WAS directed towards hard dance and hard trance.

you should be smart enought to know if it aint posted in event forum or djs web site it prolly aint true.
so big deal if u r not a fan of prog. they arent here just to entertain you buddy.
just because 20 ppl on a site say bring yoji doesnt mean there is a huge fan base. step out into the club scene and stuff and u will realize. i have been in toronto for just about a year and even i figured it out soon that Toronto has first of all a huge hip hop and r&b base. in EDM jungle breaks house and techno take the lead. hardstyle is way down the list.
as for yoji's set varrying ... d00d ppl go see him becuase he would play hardstyle and while at it put on a rocking show. if they wanna hear techno or trance theres other djs in town. hell house is in business cos of hardstyle. going to see yoji cos he puts on a good show and going to see yoji for the music is 2 different things. i can convince my grandmother to go see him cos he is just fun to watch but that doesnt mean she is a fan of his or would luv his msuic.
as for your argument of new djs. yoji isnt new either. and do some research on which djs have been to toronto and which havent and out of those that havent how many paradigm has brought and is bringing then we will talk again. marcel woods is just one example and he tore it up at viva.
lastly ... i will say that this isnt about toronto not being ready for yoji or yoji being not ready for toronto. its strictly political bullshit of clubs. one would never know exactly as to what the turnout will be untill they bring the artist and take a chance. clubs these days rather not take a chance on something new that may not work as compare to something that would for sure generate cash. having yoji in toronto isnt just up to the promoter it also involves the stake holders and ofcourse the booking agents and the dj himself.

Uh, that's not my point. And you're contradicting yourself. Yes, I'm not a fan of prog, and neither are a lot of other people in Toronto.
The Toronto club scene, likewise, is not here to ONLY entertain progheads like yourself (assuming you are one).
20 people on a site? You don't get it do you. At least 50 TOTAs on this site want to see, and would see Yoji when he came to Toronto. Those 50 people know others who would want to see Yoji, etc etc.
Yoji for all intents is the MOST popular hard dance DJ in the world. It's stupid to NOT bring him. Explain to me the logic in that DJs like Scot Project have been to Toronto several times, and have LESS of a fanbase than Yoji does here.
Wow, you are clearly misinformed about Yoji and his music. No wonder you keep making misinformed comments about him.
Yoji RARELY plays hardstyle. You DO know the difference between hard trance, hard techno and hardstyle right?
In terms of new DJs, I meant new to "Toronto".
The Toronto club scene will never grow unless a variety of fresh DJs are booked
For the record, Yoji's booking agent (who lives in Toronto, har har) said that Yoji would "love" to come to Toronto. He told several fans who emailed him to pressure the local Toronto clubs to book Yoji.
PS, bring Yoji!
