I love how poeple just show so much respect to the DJ's/producers who have been around forever, and who have produced trance almost ten years ago that poeple are still listening to this day.
If you dont like trance.. stfu and go dance with with bad boy bill, because he's like.. hot, and thats what counts right?

Bad Boy Bill is hot? No way! For some reason I always thought Bad Boy Bill was talented all these years. Stupid me.
It was a good night at Spundae. I didn't see ATB, the backroom was much better. All the DJs there, specially Kristina Sky and Thomas Bronzwaer (I think this was the last DJ of the night?), did a great job. Although there was a mishap at the beginning of Kristina's set, she pulled it off aterwards with an awesome set.
The vibe itself was better in the backroom. The main room was ridiculously hot and crowded. I thought I was in the scene of The Matrix Reloaded where all the people are dancing underground at the sound of Fluke's Zion. Even the nudity and the sensual scenes were similar. The only time I heard ATB he was playing an obnoxious loop so I decided to go out for a breathe. I don't want to imply that the vibe in the main room was bad, this is all just an opinion. I'm sure there are many that thought ATB was great and whatnot. To each his own.
When I arrived at the main room, Carlos was playing some hard stuff, hard considering the fact that you expect a slower tempo set at the beginning of the night. The crowd was into it though. So that was good.
The eternal Swedish Egil played some nice classic tunes. I didn't hear all of his set, neither that of Carlos. Mr. Egil played the Motorcycle tunes, ATRC and Around You. He also played some new remix of a classic tune. I can't recall the name now though. He was doing a good job actually, cheesing up the crowd for ATB. I was particularly happy when he transitioned to Silence. But then the vocals came on. They sounded disastrous. Perhaps it was the sound. I didn't care to listen anymore so I went to the backroom to stay there for good.
The last set in the back room was nice. Cool tracks like Dogzilla's Without You and First State's First State were played. I think the DJ even played some remix of some Whiteroom tune. I may be wrong though, I wasn't there to ID songs. I just love my vagueness. Anyway, and without vagueness, this was, for me, the set of the night. I even enjoyed how the DJ lost the bass button. Seriously, great set by this guy.
Fin.

Arrived at Spundae about 10:45 p.m., running late as usual, pulled into the second parking lot but the car in front plus mine were turned away because the lot was full. Went around the block again, came back to the same lot, and cars are going in to park again..., o...k...
Passed by the huge guestlist line with GrooveTickets receipt in hand, on through airport security and was in the club in no time. Then, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but Swedish Egil playing to a completely packed dance floor, with girls dancing in Santa hats, but unfortunately no sleigh or tiny reindeer (unless you were far more drunk than I was)! One of Egil's songs began with the intro to Robert Miles' "Children," the first song ever played on GrooveRadio.com...was a very emotional experience for Egil, me and many others that witnessed the birth of GrooveRadio.com on 1/11/00!
Quality sets by the DJ's in the back room too, Kristina looked so happy to be there! A lot of energy from a small crowd that really appreciated the well thought-out selection of tracks.
ATB came on about 1 a.m., the crowd went crazy, screaming, chanting ATB, ATB. Andre was on an adrenaline high, smiling and bouncing up on the decks. The crowd was def not the usual Spundae crowd , dunno where all of these people came from, but haven't seen it that crowded since Armin!
Once Andre got the mic working, he started MC'ing during the songs, a little strange to me but it really worked up the crowd. At one point, 3 drum beats...then crowd chants A..T..B.. (repeat this 17 times). He did play Nalin & Kane, Chicane, some old ATB classics, A&B "Air for Life" (seemed to be the theme song, heard it at least 3 times between front & back rooms).
Andre sang along with the last song of his set...it was actually invigorating to see someone so inspired by the music. Was also nice to hear some quality tracks from the past, too many DJ's are pounding the same ones into our ears over & over (sending out an SOS here!) Once I develop my mixing skills enough and should I ever have the luck to DJ a set, I will open it with Van Bellen's "Let Me Take You (...on a Journey)" and do my best to live and breathe the lyrics!
o.k., this night wasn't an Armin set, but I've heard MANY worse DJ's in the main room. One song that I didn't know near the end really went off, taking me into a state of Trance!
I was happy that so many people I've never seen came to hear a Trance DJ, I'm guessing that most of this crowd usually goes for top 40 music, maybe they will be enlightened. "Today's hectic life and high level of stress is having an extreme effect on people. Music can provide us with calm, distraction and relaxation," claims Andre Tanneberger. (DJList.com)
Relax. Be calm. Get distracted. After all, this is the time of our lives (next up for me is PVD in Vegas!)
