Well, if you consider simply jumping up and down for hours on end looking like a complete nerd with absolutely no pulse or rhythm to be dancing (as it seems like the trance fanboys do, although not as if the faster-paced dance music has much of a recognizable rhythm anyway...), then just do that. On the other hand, if you are dancing to music where you can actually feel the groove, ie: house, then you can get more creative with your dance moves and just go with the flow, of course as long as you are in sync with the vibe of the music.
