having higher audio quality is well worth the price...
some hard to find edm singles are very hard to find illegally.
i think the mainstream music industry must have more problems with illegal downloading than the edm one.
We also cannot forget that there are 2 sides to this coin being that the internet and illegal downloads are some of the main reasons dj's today can enjoy rock star like status.

but in many was it is. Dance music in canada used to get WAAAY more airplay than it does now.

We even had dance music stations.

Not anymore.

Honestly as bad as it might be for the industry it is one of the reasons i am so high on edmm...it is music that can be enjoyed without being ruined by talentlees station programmers who ram the same rotation down your throat everyday.Edm is the only form of music that has any soul left IMO...

thats only the format you are used to in north america. A properly run radio station wouldnt do that to your favourite song.

a radio station in north america would never play my favorite song never mind ruin it.The advantage with this "scene" is that the people dictate where it is going and not the media. The People create stars and not the marketing execs...i can live with that.(Tiest0r is an exeption0 )

It can start as easily as someone sending a song they created to a dj.The dj plays it and passes it on....What other branch of the music industry can you say this for.If anything the underground values lead to
more variety and more freedom to think outside the box.

actually in toronto the clubs used to play the music as determined by crowd reaction and then radio would pick up on it. Now its the other way around. Just listen to that radio programme that Celica did about dance music and listen to what Walter Rosati and Lil Pete had to say about radio.

thats the format practically everywhere. If the song is a hit then it'll be played.

yeah but from my experience in europe and south america, a radio station will play it in rotation. But rotation is 60 songs instead of the 30 you get here.

Thats the big diff

Also those stations actually have radio programmes that highlight and explore the best of different genres so you get exposure to stuff beyond top 40.

It used to be like that here too with Energy 108.

satellite radio could have been a good alternative.... sadly it has 2 things going for it.

a) its programmed by americans and americans rarely have music taste.

b) the canadian government has it's nany hands all over it.

Well the answer is yes.... but i still say buy your music... read my tag line below.

Holy overreaction Batman, I didn't hear him say anything about downloading the music. Maybe these are legal MP3s that he ripped from CDs he owns? Or maybe he paid for them on iTunes or beatport?

People need to stop making the "MP3 = stealing" association - that's precisely the attitude that's been destroying the recording industry.
