the only thing that sucked was the dj that came on after sander...how does a no talent assclown like that book a new years gig???? not only did his track selection and transitions blow, but he sodomized every song with his wannabe zabiela mixer abuse. he even mc'ed some nonsense like 'new years only happens once in a lifetime!'. i would have been content with paying $100 to see an hour of sander, but dj nobody started making me wonder where my money went.

OMG that so sounds like steve Crapo! He is the man behind AHP that is why he gets gigs and the only reason... he books himself!

i don't think it was steve some other random bad dj, but like rich said i can't believe those guys get booked at a club like avalon. i mean if they want talent for house we have a plethera of talent in our house djs here on the TA boards, tigo, woody, mike, bas, clovis, come on our guys are so way more talented than the shit they tried to pass off as dj's last night.

Here's my pics.
http://www.DjWoody.com

and....
Here's my mini review.

--------------------------

I got to Avalon around 1am and one of the bouncers tried to dick telling me my HARD TICKET was no longer valid as it was AHP already. I was like BULLSHIT. He wanted $125 to let me in. I told him to fuck off and that i wanted to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor was walking by, overheard the convo, and told him to fuck off too. He let me in. BASTARD Bouncer trying to dick me over.

Once inside, I have to agree with Kellie. It seemed like just any other saturday night. I honestly didnt care for Sander's set much. Most of the time I spent it socializing all over the place. It was so good to see many of you there. You know who you are!!!

I left around 6am, and went to a loft party in downtown LA where I met up with a few TA's. I got asked to spin, but I didn't have my CDs with me. Oh well, next time.

Pretty awesome night other than the fact that I had to wait almost 2 hours to get inside which was fucking bullshit. It was nice to meet Clovis finally and seeing Bas, Julia and Simon again. Sanders set was pretty damn sick, though not the best Ive seen from him. I am diggin the dvdj sets from him though, its a ton better than when I saw him a year ago.

Some songs I can remember: Artificial Funk - Never Alone, Speedcats - Speedcats, Eurythmics - Ive got a life (Sander Mix), plus a bunch of songs from his cd, and a few more that I cant remember.
I think I prefer seeing Sander in a smaller venue for a smaller crowd but hes still better than most djs any day.

Well I arrived for afterhour power with Sander, only to have crap for crap dj's spinning for the majority ... BUT ... I was really happy to chat it up with a few TA's that I normally don't get to see too much ... seriously Tigo #1 good talk good talk ... funny, Rich, Tigo and I were sitting up in the cracked out section for a long while thinking, "actually we are amongst the more sober here ..."

Well if you look at it as a normal avalon night, it was a SICK night. Kazell played a great opening set. Sander threw down crazy status...for the first 2 hours after midnight he brought it hard dirty and dark. His mixing was spot on the whole time.

I got to talk to Digweed on the right of the stage that was cool. Unfortunatley they wouldn't let him play.

Sander played a few tracks I recognized and a few from his Everybody On Tour CD, but I would say 75% of his set was absolutely massive tracks that I had no clue wtf they were. He started to let up around 3:30-4 but still layed down sick tracks.

Stuff I recognized:

Royksopp - What Else Is There (Trentemoller Remix)
Speedcats - Speedcats (Roel H Remix) w/ Green Velvet - Flash (Accapella)
Artificial Funk - Never Alone (Trophy Twins & Funkagenda's FATT Remix) (I just bought this track on beatport)
Jon Gurd - Lemon Sherbert
Bodyrox - Yeah Yeah (Pearn & Bridges Dub)
Mylo - Muscle Car (SanderK Remix)
MV - Mr. Robato (Some Remix?)

I was expecting Avalon to be decked out with some great production work, but instead it was plain old avalon...really fucking lame. It didnt make the New Year seem special at all. So boo Avalon for half assing what could have been a great party once again.

It was nice to meet some TA's I havnt yet, lex400sc, Protege, serch54 for like 5 seconds and I think I'm forgetting some...

Oh and for the 68976238974589763928475th time:

FUCK AFTERHOUR POWER

CANT WE HAVE ONE FUCKING NIGHT OUT OF THE WHOLE FUCKING YEAR WHERE AFTER HOUR POWER DOES NOT RUIN A GREAT NIGHT WITH THE FUCKING WORST FUCKING DJ's AND MUSIC IN THE WORLD.

If I wanted to hear absolute SHIT trance horribly mixed and presented by an asshole who thinks he is the center of the universe, I would go see George Acosta. But I dont go see George Acosta. I go to Avalon to see world class talent....which is subsequently always cut short by these fucking idiots.

They give electronic music a bad name. Its not even good trance its shitty generic 145+ hard trance that probably took 5 seconds to produce in Acid.

So once again FUCK AFTERHOUR POWER and I hope someone at Avalon reads the above and gets a fucking clue.

New Years

Hey guys, well I must admit...........TJ didn't do to well, infact I was alittle embarrassed about it cause it made ME look bad!!! It was VERY difficult to dance to some of the train wrecks that happened, and it wasn't a seldom occasion, it kept happening, and I can't go up on a podium and not dance, I have to DANCE!!! So I was dissappointed, but he did manage to pick it up a little bit and atleast I got to dance to freefall, my favorite track and I, being a dancer, KNOW THE LYRICS............in which alot don't.

Anyway, after my second set, I got done, threw on my clothes and went out on the dance floor and jumped around a bit. I then went up to spider room and mingled, too fucking packed!!! I left about 8:30, didn't want to though.

AHP definitely needs to step it up a bit as far as DJ's, but Club Crashers and AHP are actually different promoters, from what I've been told. Can't bag on it too much cause' that's my job and I have passion for the vibe and crowd. What they need to do is get rid of regular hours dancers so I can take over!!!!

Whos' coming to Marco V on the 20th?????

Thanks for that, yeah I can't really say much as he's (TJ) is the one that is booking me...............so though it sucked, I still had to do my job to try and entertain you party animals. Somebody needs to take it to the next level, loved my first outfit but the fucking wig wouldn't stay on!
