Hey Rich,

Haven't read the whole thread so apoligies if this has been said already.

If you are talking about big quality soundsystems then sure you can get away with a 320. There are always those of us out there who can hear the difference but the question you should ask is, is this offensive not get hung up on whether or not it's a 320.
The biggest grey area is those mid ranged systems that don't have pro's making sure that everything is set up and balanced correctly.

It ultimately depends on the source for the rip.

The key thing to keep in mind is that the MP3 doesn't have too much treble. As long as it's balanced it's fine.
A scientific fact is that people become aggressive if there is too much treble in a club, that's why it's always a nightmare when you play at some dive with the owner or cleaner messing with the EQs for the sound system because the bar staff are complaining that they can't hear the punters ordering drinks.

Anyway enough tangents... bottom line is you will be fine.

Cheers
Nem

ive heard smth similar. that treble (hi freq) makes females produce more adrenaline, so if you got a lot of girls on the floor just + 6 db on the hi's and you'll be doing just fine

Can't remember the exact source but it's from when I was in 6th form college doing a study on aggression for my Psychology A Level. It wasn't just a passing glance at some magazine, it's properly documented. I will see if I can't find the source.

interesting...i can see really piercing highs being annoying, and even painful...but scientifically documented to lead to aggression. cool.

I've just noticed you're actually quoting something I said in your sig... I'm honoured, but wondering what the world is coming to!

Exactly

He didn't include the bit with me describing my odds of ever playing at such an event, left me looking slightly more up my own arse than really necessary... hehe

Get your gun out !!!

Anjunabeats sell 256 mp3s

"256kbit/sec quality is from a different planet: it's virtually indistinguishable from the original digital masters they have been encoded from" (quote from anjuna site)
