For that matter, you can justify against any form of civil rights if you compare it to "back then." Since women have more rights than blacks did 200 years ago, does that mean they no longer need the right to vote? With your logic, sure.

i used to be totally in favour of gay marriage. but then i changed my mind. im still in favour of civil unions that convey the same legal ramifications that marriage does, however i like the idea of keeping the institution of marriage for heterosexuals only. its how we can celebrate our sexuality as heteros. if gays are so concerned with difference, and cant help but celebrate what they wish to do with their genitals, then i say we match it with them to prove a point on just how pointless the celebration of sexual preference is.
