I had an awesome time.
I really liked Deko-ze's set.
Hearing Afro-Left - Leftfield (track from '91 still sounds so FRESH!), Mory Kante - Yeke Yeke (Hardfloor Remix) was nice and Michael knows how to throw those tracks in and make me smile.
TA explosion! - we held down every corner and then some. Some great convos and of course some serious dancing was had.
Moment of the night for me was when ADDY spun this one track - 17 YEAR FLASHBACK! - I FREAKED!!! - I could not make out the name of the record - it was spinning too fast for me to read LOL! but it is a track from 1988/89 - an instrumental Chicago Acid House track - with an arpeggio piano riff (give me a keyboard and I can play it!) - I had it on some tape that I had randomly recorded from "Deadly Headley's all night dance party" back when CFNY 102.1 used to have his awesome dance show from 11:30 until 4-5 in the morning. The tape is looong gone and I never knew the name - but the track was always a favourite of mine. It had mixed into Xavier Gold - You Used to Hold Me, ........it is a haunting piece of house goodness that I hadn't thought about in YEARS and when Addy dropped it I almost cried with such intense memory flooding.
In my attic bedroom - tinfoil and cable twisted around the window - 2 hours from Toronto (small town boy) - I was finally able to get CFNY 102.1 (and another station in Buffalo) but not until late evenings and HOLY SHIT - when the static cleared and the beats came through - I FELL IN LOVE - with those house music sounds. That week - I went to K-Mart and bought 20 blank tapes and taped it every night for months. That and the Brave New Waves Show (hosted by Brent Bambury).
That audio tape recording had been chewed by my player twice and I fixed it with scotch tape - this tape is what started a new direction in my taste in music. I fell asleep and when I woke up this tape had recorded - Frankie Knuckles - Tears, Ten City - Thats the Way Love Is, Raze - Break for Love, Todd Terry - Can You Party, Xavier Gold - You Used to Hold Me and other tracks including that track ADDY spun - FUCK I MUST FIND IT/TRACK IT DOWN!!!
My subconscious had been blown open musically and I had an awesome time with my 3 groups of friends.
