mp3 mixing: only with 320 kbps (but you have good quality with 256, too, the most of you won't hear the differrence, me not either)
otherwise use flac. it's uncompressed then but still the half as big as wav.
all in all, digitalized music is never like the original, analog sound, not even on 192000er hz samplerate and 32 bit; thats a fact, if you study the music-digitalizing-theorie a bit. The funny thing is, that all analog vinyls are from a digitalized master; you do not master anymore directly on vinyl, so cd/vinyl/wav quality are all the same; only depending on what you play them.
(i'm mixing with mp3 too, i'd advise you to take traktor. It's a bit complicated at first, but after you will get the best mixes in your entire life. the only prob: i do the pitch-matching myself, but the most mp3djs let the computer make that; and in the version 3 you don't even have a pitchfader . but i use 2.6 so there's no problem, you can integrate final-scratch. It's not cheap, but.. .
i just love the indipendet regulation of key/tempo, no other program does that with so high quality like traktor.

I use MixVibes 5 Pro, and have been doing so for 2 years now. They have since released a new version...6, but I don't want to pay an extra £150 when the one I'm using isn't broke!
