"We've got a lot of guys in this league, if they took 70 shots, they'd score a lot of points."

As much as Pat is a great coach, this is a pretty bogus statement. Sure Kobe attempted 66 shots combined, but does he mention that he scored on 46 of those attempts?? That my friend, is a 70% shooting percentage combined which is insane. Not to mention he shot 54% from behind the 3pt. line. The rest of the Laker team was a horrid 33% from the field, where as Kobe was almost DOUBLE as effecient with 61%.He also out rebounded the entire Raptor team with the exception of Bosh, and had more steals than anyone on that night. Another insane stat to think about.... he scored at a rate of two points PER MINUTE.

Hands down, this was the best scoring performance in NBA history, and to accomplish that.... guess what? You have to take a lot of shots.

Well we all know MJ is 'better'(my fav), but in sports we have to use stats to compare. In that sense Kobe is really carving a name for himself.

naw, he was 28 for 46 (which includes 3's) which is ~60%...still nothing to sneeze at, but nothing extraordinarily special in terms of single game FG%.

Kobe is one the greats, no doubt...but a 45% FG% on the year is not terribly special. IMHO, he's so good because he's a total package...scores from all over the court (perimeter, drives, 3's), good defender, passer, etc.

a great performance, sure...but I bet Jordan relishes his 6 rings, 5 MVPs and two gold medals more than Kobe will enjoy his scoring performance

But Kobe has his titles too...maybe he's happy enough with that and wants to increase his individual status in NBA history...I dunno.

FWIW, Jordan equals or beats Kobe in just about *every* statistical category...regular season or playoffs...and is arguably the better defender of the two as well.
