hehe, sothis...

I said the *majority* of girls, not all of them! (I also mentioned this is something that I've noticed, but can be easily proved wrong with some actual statistics)... you're obviously geared to a higher degree of sophistication with respect to computers, and that's great! You are part of a smaller breed, because certainly when I'm online in these forums, playing any type of game online, or talking tech trash, very few females are involved. But I mean, like Durafei, the *majority* of females just aren't into computers as hardcore as guys.. like Durafei's compsci classes, the males grossly outnumber the females in my computer engineering classes.. this isn't a stereotype or generalization, but a statistic in my eyes

and don't spotlight my comments only, fantom got me thinking about what I said before

i dont think so. im speaking from industry experience, working in well, one of the largest software corporations in the world. half and half.

so you are still saying the same thing.. that women enjoy house in clubs because its "sexy". im still saying i dont agree with you. girls who like techno, go because they like house. girls (AND guys, and there are a hell of a lot in this category) who go to clubs just to get drunk and pick up on people, might like house because its "sexy".

LOL, good to see you here too Sothis causing mayhem in the Toronto forums

I see your point on stereotyping, but from what I see a lot of what the guys said here is rather true. Guys are more 'geeky' in that sense. But I'll have to say that the majority of people who use the internet are girls though.

Back to the house/trance music issue. Trance is great to be listening to when you are chillin' at home or in your car but when I'm at a club, I want some HOUSE. Also, jungle/dnb are about the most popular genre in electronica in Toronto.

This is a very sound opinion.. There are obviously females that go out for different reasons (i.e. for the music, the party, etc.) and they will be very much more open-minded to the other types of music being played. My point being, house isn't that widely preferred by females and theoretically, there should be a good amount of females into trance house being "sexy, groovy" doesn't appeal to everybody...

i posted a thread in this forum about how i might be visiting toronto over my spring break, maybe if no good trance events are happening, there will be a good jungle one eh?

Well..i guess i'm the first tranceaddict girl from Toronto to reply to this thread. I don't see how house music is "sexy"...i personally don't like it and euro and freestyle simply discust me! I agree that the latter are more popular and people recognize the styles more than trance (which most of them don't even know what it means ).
I personally didn't like trance before...i was more into rap..you know..2pac, Eminem, Dr. Dre but then i just got fed up with the bullshit they were givin' me and started off with some "cheesy" Alice Deejay and ATB which i still like btw ..Anyway i worked my way off there and frankly i've listened to everything in my life but i always go back to TRANCE! I LOVE hard trance especially but i like uplifting, hypnotic etc too. You guys are right when you say that gurls like to shake their asses but i prefer doing it on trance. I guess I'll never change!
oh btw...i listen sometimes to Disturbed...sshh..don't tell

Toronto big on Trance? not really, you have to remember Sothis that this is a Trance board. So lots of people here are very biased. You'll hardly ever hear anyone here talk about Jungle on this board, instead you'll always hear TA's here bitchin' and moaning about not enough Trance being played in Toronto. There's a reason why the majority of clubs here play progressive/house.

Oh, and what am I basing this on? Well in the last couple of years, everytime I'm at a major party/rave , the Jungle/dnb room is always packed while the Trance rooms are always nearly empty all through the night. There's just so much more energy everywhere else. Sorry to say it TA's but Trance is the least popular form of electronica here in Toronto at least, I'm just speaking the truth.
A good example is when we had our annual I-dance (it's a free party held once a year in the heart of our downtown district to support raves in Toronto..it's now a yearly tradition--phat party) when artists like Andy C, MC Flipsyde and Freaky Flow was there, you hardly had room to breathe, it quickly cleared when it came to other DJs to spin.
Last year I was a little P'O ed that I had to miss PVD when he came to the GUV , because a lot of my friends wanted to go see DJ Hype at Bittersweet but I also wanted to see Donald Glaude. I went there and I'm so glad I did because I had the best time of my life ever. There were about 15,000 (I think) ravers there which was not packed for the venue but it showed that the majority of peeps don't care about PVD . What a party! it was insane!

If you like jungle Sothis, you'd definately like Toronto but you'll have to go to some of the bigger parties though. Too bad you won't be here a little sooner because I think the Bittersweet party this year will be awesome.

Yes Trancewave, that is right... Jungle/Drum & Bass are the most popular forms of Electronic music in Toronto, but even more popular form of music is Hip-Hop/Reggae (is that how you spell it?), which is so damn dissapointing...

And just because most of the people on this board talk about Trance, that doesn't mean that trance is popular around here (after all, this board was made to get all of us tranceaholics together).

Oh, Europe... I wish I was there...

wow...

well yea, i guess i totally misjudged that. it seems odd though that if your trance scene isnt that great, that you still get people like ferry, tiesto, pvd, armin, all the time it seems.. or at least every few months.

i mean, i live by vancouver, bc, over here... which i think has a pretty good trance scene. it probably is (or at least was for awhile, might be declining now) the main type of techno there. but still, big talent only comes once maybe every 6 months. in the last 3 years, ive only seen tiesto twice up there, bt once, and other people like john 00 fleming, marc et claude, etc, at a big party (all of whom i was disappointed with). but if your scene is not dominant? yea.. you must be pretty lucky then that you still get tons of talent

Sorry Sothis but if you want to get out dranken come to Calgary. We have been drinking here since we were 14. and would be impressed if any 20 year old American could even come close to our drinking habits.

Tranceseeker I think its ironic that you said that you rather listen to trance at Home or in your car. Most people think the exact opposite.

And back to Sothis, Vancouvers seen is totally about Hard House! They have had good trance shows but Raves and Hard house is totally tops there. I wanted to see if my company could do some big shows out there but it looks like the seen is slowly dieing?
