Their Essential mix was class....loved that mix back then. And they have done some good stuff around that time but everything since then excluding a few has gone badly down hill

Everyone talks mad smack about them on here, but I really like G&D, their remixes are always top notch....Very few songs I've heard by them that I haven't liked.

everytime iv seen them play, from england to chicago and here in st louis, they rocked the house. Everyone was moving, and they played a variety of styles, something most "trance" djs cant do.

I guess i heard they used to be poor djs, but now that they're using ableton live the beatmatching is perfect...cheating? maybe, but they do reworks live, some have been interesting, so at least they get some use out of it.

But yes, live in a club, they rock it. And i usually like their productions...some stuff (tracking treasure down) i dont

oh g&d are more prog than trance... but they're still quality... as for taking the piss... i don't think it is at all... people bitch about how generic trance has become and how it hasn't evolved at all in years... listen to Gabriel and Dresden - Portobello... I haven't heard a thing like it...

Sorry G&D are neither prog nor trance, or maybe rarely they had been for a few tracks. Anyways, classification is just up to per individual standard. If you say you haven't heard a thing like Portobello, then you should search and try to listen more. MIKE has done so much of such electro-ish bassline ages ago and moreover they sound much better than this. What G&D's done is just replacing the deep depressive melody with another lousy and superficial cheesy progression which they are good at.
If you said simply coz you like it and it's your taste then all fine. But if you even challenge and say they make good music. Sorry, they do not.

Based on what I've seen, one thing you can't deny is that their sound reaches out to new non-EDM people. i can't tell you how many times my friends will some into my room when a G&D set or track is playing and ask me what the song is.

I like gabriel and dresden and do say they make good progressive trance.. i haven't heard that chuggy prog feel that portobello has...

build a bridge and get over it
