let's talk about the Koss ones.

I'm a beginner DJ who mixes AS WELL AS listens to Trance. So, note that both of these are important for me.

Now, I'm a poor student and can't afford to spend $100 (not to mention anything above that) on headphones, EVEN THOUGH I realize they're important for mixing. I'd much rather use that money to get vinyl.

YET, I would like to get quality headphones that are good for mixing (currently in the basement ) - e.g. blocking out outside noise, strong and CLEAR bass & drums; as well as pure listening. What is a really good option?

No bass whatsoever?? But you had bass when you used them with your stuff, you said--

It's the fault of his mixer! It was treble-ey, and had no bass, and the V6's just showed you this! That must have been the case. So you needed something that has way too much bass, and no treble, to compensate! And his headphones, the V700's are compensating for his MIXER!! So, like, you still believe that the V6's have bass, you know, under other circumstances, RIGHT?

Eugene, I'm gonna have to go with V6's, once again..... lol. The Koss UR-30's (big, huge, cheapo, huge, closed, huge, foldy headphones) don't block out enough sound..

Um, Exxtreme, the A44 are that cheap cause sony didn't know they sounded that good. NO ONE knew, as they came out *before dedicated headphone amps* came out. And they only sound that good when driven by a godlike source. But then, and ONLY THEN, they can reach up there with the best of them!

I'm definitely not saying that the VITE is the BMW, but what I'm trying to say is that the V700DJ sounds like it should cost FAR less money than what it actually sells for. (Like, the V700DJ costs at least $100, shipped, and $150 at retail - but actually performs like a $30 headphone.) And personally, I've heard some $100 headphones that sound much WORSE than some $15 headphones, even on good equipment.

yes well i still believe the v6's have tremendous capacity for bass.. having tested them out as computer speakers. i guess they're just not good with the pioneer-djm600, which is unfortunate cuz that's the standard in a lot of places.

i didnt notice the "no bass" until i tried the v700s, and my friend complained, then i was like what the hell... and couldnt use my headphones to mix

Anyways, while the V6's have a lot of bass, they are still a monitoring tool--they will tell you if whatever signal you are pumping into them, for whatever reason, has bass or not. They only have a lot of bass when you give them something with bass, not a lot of bass even on a bassless source, hehehe. It might have been the mixer, or it might have been something else along the line--I don't know, and you don't know. I suggest that, if you can, get together with him, and a bunch of equipment, and isolate the problem.

I, personally, view this accuracy as a good thing...

ShadySlim, since i posted this thread and got some indication regarding some past posts, i read a lot, and i came into the conclusion that v6 are more accurate, cost-effective than the v700. I really love bass, and the more the better to me, as long as it does not distort. So that's why in my view these are perfect for me.

Being too expensive is something (and i acctually agree! i paid $150 overall). But sounding _like_poop_ is another. You said it's way worse than the v6... I can't say it isn't coz i haven't tried them, but because i found the v700 so good, it's hard to believe it's that worse, like you say. I'd really like to try the v6 coz i found a lot of people that find it the best, but i only know 2 DJs that play here in Rio, and they use the v700, so i'll have to wait till i see one

so you're saying that it's the mixer or the CD player's fault that the V6 weren't playing any bass? but he said that as soon as he put on the V700 the bass was ok..... and I bet the bass was ok through the speakers as well...... that's really wierd. don't you think?
so it's the Mixer and/or CD player's fault that the V6 had no bass.... maybe he should buy a new mixer? or a new CD player?? oh, what the hell!! why don't he replace all of his DJ equipment, to particular DJ equipment that will match the V6 and will make the V6 have bass in them..... that's the best option I see... makes sense, doesn't it?

what you prolly hearing on the 700's was the exagerated(sp?) MIDBASS
which is what the 700's are notorious for...
so then the mixer was pumping out more midbass then actual bass...
the v6's have a GREAT low end, and with the proper source, it can outperform any dj headphones...

having used both headphones in both a studio setting and in dj applications, i would have to say the v6's are better... now all sony has to do is make the v6 more dj friendly (like the 90 degree side swivel), and they just could be on to something...

for what you pay for the 700's, you should be getting a lot more in the sound department, not just some flashy paint and swiveling drivers...

damn guys, y'all are misunderstanding.
my v6s are just fine when at home on my vestax pmc3 pro mixer (shite mixer)
but on that pioneer djm600 (industry standard mixer), which isnt mine, the bass is MUCH less than the v700s (which ive never tried on my mixer)
after hearing the v700s, i found that the v6s were uncomfortably high in the mid and highs... really not enough bass.
not "no" bass whatsoever.

the sound was fine yeah, everything was fine, maybe i have to compare again when im not so drunk
but there is a definite difference... just to my recollection, the lack of powerful bass in the v6s on the pioneer mixer made me use the v700s that night.

i got what you said... and i said that the pioneer mixer must be putting out more MIDBASS than BASS
the 700's have an exagerated MIDBASS which is why you thought that they sounded fine...

so what you are saying is that the DJM 600 is a bad source? I find this hard to believe...cuz as you say, it is the industry standard...try it in another DJM 600, might be a problem with that one
