I installed something this week that you wouldn't consider conventional spyware but it's just plain annoying.

Norton Internet Security.
It's a trial version that I got when I purchased a motherboard and it'll be good for 2 months or so.

Anyhow the stupid things blocks certain sites and I " Do not have sufficient rights to modify this feature " keeps coming up in the program when I try to modify parental control and port forwarding and various other things.

Basically I have to buy the stupid software to get to do everything.

And no it's got nothing to do with Administrative privileges on the machine as there's only account that I'm using.

I f*cking hate that shhhhhhhhhhhhh*t!

There's one piece of software I know I won't be purchasing.

What should I use for antivirus, popup blocking, firewall????
I've used BitDefender before and thought it was ok

I'm going to but I'm wondering which kind of protection I should install now.

Any suggestions?

Hmm, As far as Firewall, a Router would be just the thing, It's better having the hardware handle the Firewall Protection then software, As for popups, Since Service Pack 2, It came with a popup blocker for IE, However, I like using Firefox more since it doesn't use Active X. I dont really like installing all this software for the protection, Cause it basically cripples your system causing things to run slower and become unstable, On top of that, It would also slow down the boot time of your system..
