Real djs spin vinyl. Plus, cds are killing and overflowing the rave and club scene with people who have no bussiness djing if they can't afford or spin vinyl. People that use final scratch and other garbage like that make me sick because the're actually killing the vinyle distributors and record stores by doing that. This is why now a days it's hard for me to get german trance records over here in the states unlike 4 or 5 years ago. These fucking kids have no respect now a days. |
What does being able to afford vinyl have to do with DJ ability? While it does permit a lot of crappy DJs to get into the hobby/profession, it also permits those who aren't wealthy to participate and some of them may actually be pretty good.
Also, there's enough online stores to buy vinyl from. If you can't afford the import shipping charges, maybe you shouldn't be DJing. Otherwise, you're a hypocrite for making the above comment.

I does NOT matter what equipment you, what you spin, be it vinyl or cd, or MP3 or whatever.
It does not matter if it's industry standard or bargain basement. It's just all about getting out there and making sure people enjoy themselves on the dance floor and improving your technique whatver route you choose to go down. If you've got top of the line skills and top of the line equipment, no-one can fault you for that. If you're just a new-start and you have starter gear, it's not a big deal, you develop your skills, fine tune your taste and preferences, and if you really want to continue djing, you can upgrade with the times, money allowing. It's about other people when you DJ, as well as yourself.
