As for the phone asking for a number when you send a txt... well.
What brand of phone is it?
Is it actually asking for a "callback number"? or does it want a "service centre" or "message centre" number?

Chances are, it wants the message centre number, which is like the address of the network's computer which sends the messages out. You can get this number from your phone company, if it's not already stored in the phone. The message won't send or get through to the other person if you don't have this number correct.

I've never actually come across a phone that asks you to type in your own number to send a message. Phones are supposed to be smart enough to work this out by themselves... I'd need to know *exactly* what it does when you send a message to be able to tell you what it wants.

i love my sony-ericsson k750i, it takes mint shots (only during daytime though)
pretty good media playback as well, would highly suggest it because it runs on the same hardware as the walkman mobile (you just get a bigger memory stick with the walkman) and it looks the shit too

and why the hell wont vodafone give me a phone? i may not need one but ive been a loyal customer (be it prepaid) who has recharged with $50 for the past 3 years. its bullshit if you ask me
