Hmmm, maybe I should reconsider the C.304's

I still have one question unanswered: How does the filter effect on the C.304 work?? Is it selectable Hi/Low cut?? Can you adjust the cutoff point with a knob?

Sorry about changing the subject again but i believe clubs use cdj1000s because they are known to be reliable, why take the risk of using a new cd deck that may have more fetures but who knows whats going to happen when it plays for 8 hours straight in a humid smokey room. Ofcourse for a bedroom dj or even a pro dj who is upgrading his bedroom setup i would go for things like the denon, numark, stanton.
Im going to buy the stanton deck sometime this year when i can finaly get some cash together.

the cutoff point can be adjusted.all you do is before selecting your fx there is button that says hold press that down and it will light up blue.then select the effect you wish to use and your away.

there are two knobs on the cd deck one on each side of the main screen

knob on the left is for time (i.e how longyou want the effect to last)

knob on the right is for ratio (the strenth of the sound)

for example with the pioneer mixers when you press the flanger effect it adds more bass to the track.

but with the cd decks you can tweak the effect till your satisfied with the sound.

oh yeah you can also play to effects at the sametime i.e echo and filter, pan and flanger and so on.

the stanton cd decks will have had a hell of a beating by there manifactures to see if it can hold up to 8 hours nonstop usage.

the cd deck has a great feature where if you have not touched the deck for at least 15mins it will go into sleep mode.the reason they have put this in is to make the laser last twice as long.

the only real big problem i see with them so far is the bpm counter is shit.i dont really use bpm that whats thepoint if you learnt your skills the hard way.

i put on my cd deck thomas bronzwaer - shadow world

my mixer said it was around 138
the cd deck said it was around 152

i just shuck my head and thought stanton you really have some home work to do.

other than that the cd deck works fine.

but it does have its pros & cons which i have already stated.

How about Hipass/Lowpass?? Does the C304 have both??? (Filters are the only effects I use, but I use them alot, they're kinda important to my mixing techniques... )

Yep Yep, Just me, because I think the CDJ's are overrated :P

It's black, it's sleek, it has a pretty light that spins around, and it works. So by standard, it's what clubs buy.

tisk tisk. I'll stick with Numark/Denon for cd decks

I would just like to say that I did a side by side comparo today with the stanton c304 and the cdj-800 and I felt the stanton to be much more solid. The platter did not feel weak and yet it was much more sensitive to touch than the cdj-800. For scratching it sounded the same, but i did not turn it up to really hear a difference. It seemed to me, it could've been the mixer settings, that the stanton has a lower volume output though. The cd tray thing is stupid for people who are in a rush and i can see myself hitting the tray. On Monday i will try mixing on both units and also play with the Denon s-3500.

In any event, I was going to walk away with the stanton after putting it through a pretty vigorous scratching test when i realized a couple of things. A)the guy wouldn't let me buy it for 360 bucks B).1% pitch accuracy, i would rather worry about other stuff than riding the pitch C)the display is not bright and can't be seen well with light D) I feel there is no reason why I should convert to CD just yet I have every song I could ever want on vinyl and my library of songs grows bigger everyday. Also every club has turntables so i don't have to worry if a club doesn't have cd players.

I dunno i am gonna try the 1000mk2 on saturday and see from there and i hope that i will be awed with the denon's and end up getting those.
