The cdj-200 are flimsy, and feel like they will break on you any second. They do have mp3 and 0.02 pitch cause it just came out (the new cdj800 mk2 will have all that). Personally, i think the cdj-200 is ment for home use, and the cdj800 for clubs and stuff. For me the 800 is better, but thats just personal preference.

Does the CDJ-800 play VBR tracks? If I have a VBR mp3 file, then use my Nero to burn it to a CD, (which im guessing is then turning the file into audio format, or .wav) will the CDJ-800 be able to play it? Or does the mp3 need to be CBR only?

The new 800 will NOT have 0.02 pitch control.. I picked up 2 CDJ200's yesterday.. They are great units. I find they are built well(not like the 1000's, but still really good).

The 200's don't have the Hot Cue feature of the 1000's, or the Loop Buttons like on the 800, but it does have a couple handy onboard effects, Seamless beat looping functions, MP3/WAV support.. However, make note that the 200's do NOT support VBR MP3's.. I found that out lastnight.. Its not a big deal, I can purchase 320kbit CBR mp3's. You can't scratch on the 200's like you can on the 800/1000's, but then again, scratching isn't a big thing when you are a trance DJ IMO..

Wrong, they will be converted into wav, and it's called encrypted wav's, that's why you can't copy paste songs from an audio cd.
Same thing with movie dvd: They are all mpeg2 files, but decoded mpeg's.
And most dvd players don't suport normal mpeg files as well

oh man! you're either very misguided or a troll. anyway, if you can convert the audio to wav then you can play it on ANY cd player in the world, it doesn't matter what the source file is. and if you can burn it as audio on nero, you can play it with any cd player in the world! get it?

What about just curious?

I hear the cdj 200 cannot play vbr mp3s burned to cd (not cd audio format, but in mp3 format) very well.

MP3 support is really unneccessary in any case, just burn audio cd's and you'll be better off.
What if you play out and all your cd's are MP3 cd's?

You bet! It was just theoretical question, personally from owning an mp3 cd player in my car, I have noticed one TINY scratch on the cd easily chops into many mp3 tracks.

As for me, I am still in the process of converting my vinyl to digital, burning them all as audio cds.

This reminds me to ask... does anyone else have the problem of burnt dvds being ruined too easily. Whenever i burn stuff to a dvd the disk gets ruined to easily. I think my drive was ruining it but iv noticed that because more data in the same amount of area means scratches have greater impact, like with mp3s on cdrs.

It will play them fine, however you are not able to scan the track being played or cue it up. It basically only plays.

It does say right in the manual that VBR is not supported.

For a Trance, Progressive DJ
I think the CDJ-200 are the best for their price and what they offer

I think the CDJ-800 are worse than the CDJ-200 for a trance DJ, you don¡t need scracth, the only better thing it has are the loops, but the pitch Accuracy is worse, and it has no effects.

I tried the Cdj-1000 at a club, and the better things they have over the 200 is the sampler and the loops, but I don't know if it's correct to pay $700 more just for the loops and sampler.
it's just overpriced in my opinion.

My mixer is a vestax pcv-275, and it has no effects, so if you are gonna ge t amixer with no effects I prefer using the cdj-200 over the CDj-1000, specially for the Wah (That I actually use it as a filter tomake smooth transitions).

the CDJ-800 has VINYL mode...which is a big plus. The CDJ-200 does NOT have this feature. Vinyl mode makes it much easier to cue up tracks.
