More of a case of 'selective' reading comprehension.

Jay, you're off base on this one and really not qualified to pass judgement on the commander's decision.

First of all, we're in command of operations in the south, not the entire theater. The request comes from the commander of the operation for the theater not our sector, therefore not our request.

Second, you do not have the same familiarity with the Afgan culture, people, or conflict that the operational commanders do. If they are requesting that only the Afgan flag be flown there is likely a very good reason for it. My guess is that there is likely some feeling amongst the citizens that the coalition is an occupying force. Raising the flags of the member nations would likely serve to further that feeling as normally one raises their flag over their soveriegn territory. By raising the Afgan flag we signal that we are working under the request and direction of their government. The above, however, is my assumption, I like you lack the knowledge of what is happening that would be necessary to assess this action.

Third, we are there to protect the flegling government and the citizens, WE ARE NOT THERE TO FURTHER OUR OWN SOVERIEGNTY OR INTERESTS. Since our soveriegnty is not in question here there really is no complelling reason that we should insist that our flag be flown rather then the banner of those whom we seek to assist.

I think that your position on this just really goes to show you have no ability to see the big picture. This is a terrific example of you seeing something that on the surface seems to support a preconception you have and trying to exploit that to win people to your position. Unfortunately, anyone that has any measure of objectivity and an ability to think critically will understand that this has nothing to do with political correctness run wild or Canada being a soft touch. Get your head out of your ass, you're smarter then this.
