The best public squares that I've seen have been the simple ones, exactly as described by Emery - an open area with a fountain or statues and some trees. Bu then again, I think the whole focus of the square at Yonge/Dundas is for the city and corporations, as opposed to a place for the citizens of Toronto. |
Toronto has this mentality that if we want to be a world class city we hafta try to be something like New York as hard as possible .. rather than trying to create and define our own identity with something more creative than this..
