Tomorrow's weekly tribute on Livesets.com is to Michel de Hey!
expect about 30 hours of streaming sets old and new... no need to register to tune in... last week was James Ruskin.. I've been liking their selections lately.
This week a tribute to Dutch techno legend Michel de Hey.
Michel de Hey's DJ career kicked off with his first release 'Break' entering the US Billboard top ten. Since then, he has developed his funky techno sound to what it is today. He's no stranger to club promotion, with his own night 'Future…' in Nighttown in Rotterdam pulling in the punters from all round Europe since its naissance in 1996.
Michel has since invited many international artists to educate the crowd with quality house and techno. Michel is one of the people who took responsibility for dance music and its direction on the local Rotterdam scene. With his talent both as a producer and as a DJ, Michel opened the door to techno and techhouse for generations of clubbers.

I'd like to hear him play a set these days like the 8 hours he played at Aria last April.

This set is incredible.
I think Adam Beyer is at his peak right now with his softer side getting more exposure. It's minimal, and some electro, but it's all very intense. His ability to weave sounds together and take you on a trip is just so much more evident with sets like this.

I don't know if I would say he is at his peak, in terms of getting the most exposure - I haven't noticed much in his gig schedule something that would suggest he is suddenly appealing to a wider audience... he's always experimented in his style a bit and has produced a wide range of releases but it's true his sets overall have noticeably shifted in bpm.

I didn't mean peak strictly in the sense of bookings - I mean peak as in he is really showcasing his huge range of skills more than he ever has before, and it seems people are being receptive to it. I've always been a Beyer fan, but what he's doing now seems ahead of the times. I wasn't as impressed with the more recent hard techno sets I had heard from him, but this stuff is so dark and dirty and twisted, it really fucks with your mind sometimes instead of the usual boom boom boom tss tss etc.

wow, thanks for all of these sets! i'll be dl'ing quite a few.
hoping that some techno comes to the northeast at some point.
Their sets are usually a treat... I find their sound to usually be a bit unique and they definitely have a trademark style! I hope to maybe be able to see them in Canada this year.. it has been about 3 years since they played Aria and that was nutso.

well this is still a bit of a journey for you but Steve Rachmad and Rob Hood are playing at Avalon in NYC on April 22.. I am doing the train trip for that one!
I don't usually hear of much techno going on in Pittsburgh though.. but certain places like Kansas seem to get their share! names we don't get here like the Advent and Cari Lekebusch.
