My answer to the thread...too much! I lost count after the first 20 gigs... and now I've got cable, it's only gonna get bigger and bigger!!

Dunno what kind mp3s you're talking about mate, but it can't be trance can it? You'd be lucky to fit even 80 trance tunes on a single (700 meg) mp3 cd. That's assuming a rough average of about 7 mins 30 and 192kbps bitrate each tune... and let's face it, what's the point of ripping anything at a lower bitrate than 192kbps? Unless it's Britney Spears and such, where the quality is already piss poor!!

so i have 726 Trance CDs...well actually 1552 CDs since i have doubles of everything...i just dont keep anything on my computer....i am weird like that...

Whatever happened to sharing mate?!

12.6 gigs of really good trance/techno/house tracks (not including any dj mixes or 5,000 mixes of the same track...i like to keep only the good stuff)

40 gigs of trance/techno of 'maybes' that im not sure if i should just delete or back up. i get a lot of music every day and most of the time spent weeding out the crap (ie mainstream radio etc)

about 80 cds of mp3s ive never bother checking as im still trying to sort through the 40gigs...a number that hardly changes as i whatever i delete just adds right back up by the end of the wk.

I've been collecting MP3 for 3-4 years.
How much time have you been collecting your MP3s?

dude you got ripped!

hehehe backup cds are cool but isnt it a bitch to find the cd you want for your tracks and then put them in wait that 5 seconds or whatever it is for the cd to load and then play it in winamp with a constantly changing playlist? meh i dunno

okay I am not understanding what is so great about having so much music??? if you have cable/dsl/t1/t3+ if ya got an urge to hear a song, you can download and it will be finished before the song even finishes.. it is very easy these days. I keep 2 gigs of the greatest of the time right now, that is not to say that I have cds of mp3s, but Iwill never pull them out of their case, they are there, because I'm an idiot and burned them in the first place

I guess maybe I am confused, honestly one person can only listen to one song at a time, and maybe it is just me, but it is okay to hear a great song more than once, ohh strange concept. still 2 gigs is somthin like 30+ hours, so I do not know why there is a need for more, 30+ hours, listening to each song 3 times, you've racked in 100 hours, thats enough time for even a 28ker to get a gig

explain to me your 140 gig reasoning
