yes, and its quite obvious that even the most expensive synth can sound like crap..

but all synths have soundbanks which can often sound very good, and we have the vengeance banks, which helps everybody to sound just the same..

I actually make more progress when I shut the world out. When I listen to someone else, I tend to get caught up in it, and end up just trying to make music for other people, rather than myself.

I prefer one way learning.. ie tutorials =)

It's fun helping other people though.

As far as "that being it" for trance... the genre will evolve as long as we allow it to.

Trance now sounds nothing like it did five years ago (frankly, I prefer the old style, not that it should have stayed that way).

Someone said the sound of trance will change 4-5 years from now... well duh. Same with rock, same with pop. Hell, I can't tell the difference between linkin park and all those other rock/rap/electronic groups that sprank up. And I challenge anyone in here to put an 'nsync and backstreet boys song they've never heard back to back and tell me who made it. But they all manage to sound the same as each other throughout the length of their careers. They sound more like eachother at the same time, than the indevidual groups sound comparing their first and last songs.

It's just the same will all genres.

I concur, but lately there's a new wave bashing Trance as if would be the only genre being stuck or becoming comercial, above all from techno producers, that's why I said this topic it was a clitche imo .

Really? then you should sign those guys to your label...

I gotta buy those soundsets tho, if they come packed with the complexity of an innovative melody that is.

And no, not everything has been done, I know quite a few people that are making unique stuff, but that is their doom, why? because labels won't risk their money for something they are not sure is profitable, that is why they keep selling 90% of shitty music because that is what is in demand.

I dont really think that thats going to change anytime soon.. which thus causes people to keep producing the same stuff thus, creating nothing new..

I don't really agree with that. It's true to a point of course, but many of the greats are innovators. That's how they became greats. I think the people with that problem are those who are trying to make it as producers.. but aren't at the top. And even for them, the style is still progressing, but they are caught trying to emulate the big boys, who already defined the genre as it is currently. It just happens so slowly we don't see it.
