Of course not. And that is exactly why there are so many shit and talentless DJ's floating about at the moment: Above & Beyond, The Thrilseekers, Andy Moor, Matt Darey, etc.

DJs should be booked on the strength of their track selection and mixing skills. But I think track selection is just a little more important than mixing skills, but they should at least be competent at mixing. Not everyone's a John Digweed...but you certaintly want to be better than say DJ Sammy or ATB in the mixing department.

Production skills aren't important at all. I'de rather see a really good DJ who doesn't produce, then a guy who is a producer and a DJ and is not a good DJ, but is a good producer (then i'de just want to hear his productions). It would be fine to hear an okay DJ and an okay producer. But i'de rather just hear a good DJ, regardless if they produce. James Zabiela is an example of a DJ who is a really good DJ and technically skilled in that department, but he's not really known as being much of a producer.

Thanks i'll check that out, the only tunes i've heard from him is "Robophobia", and it's decent, but I haven't seen him as much of a producer as a DJ. I'm wanting to see him live if he ever comes to Detroit...i've seen videos of him live, and he rocks!

That track and Dave Brennan - Drink Deep (Zabiela Vox Version) are two of my favorite breaks tracks of all time... I was definitely cannin' both of them for quite a while, hope you dig 'em.

Yeah i'll see if i can find them on Beatport or AudioJelly. I have been getting into breaks lately, esp progressive and electro breaks. Proton music and Sentient Audio Collective are becoming my favorite labels.

the majority of the time producers dont make good djs but there r a few exceptions that ive heard not many though.
Signum and Shokk r good at djing i cant really think of any others

No, unless you have the dj skills to back it up. ATB is a great example of a good producer who has better djing skills then he has production skills.
